When we were given tickets to the 500 Festival Community Day last year, I was excited. After learning that my little Saturn Vue could run the same course that IndyCar greats had run, I was ecstatic. Lulu was indifferent — but she hadn’t even celebrated her first birthday so what did she know? My husband Jay was excited, especially when we arranged for him to ride shotgun in a vintage Studebaker that belonged to a friend, he was revved up and ready to go!
I had no idea what to expect.
On Wednesday, May 22nd join us at the track from 9am to 6pm for your chance to take the kids on a lap around the track, meet Indy 500 drivers and get their autographs, tour the Pit Lane and visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum (included in ticket price).
Tickets are $8 per person in advance for ages 7 and up. Kids 6 and under are free. Tickets at the gate are $10 per person and are available at gate #2 and gate #10. To drive around the track, line up at gate #10 off of 30th street. The line WILL be long and the wait is totally worth it! Don’t give up and don’t miss out! To make your day a little easier, download the waiver and sign it ahead of time.
After your lap around the track, you’ll find parking and then enjoy a fun day of family friendly fun! Inflatables, giveaways, mascots, garage tours, spray tattoos, displays, obstacle courses, racing activities for kids, Q&A’s and more! Be prepared for heat: bring a hat, sunscreen and water. We packed snacks last year and then ate hot dogs from the food stand.
