Parks that allow kids of all abilities to play together are so needed in our communities and funding for these wonderful places is scarce. Independence Park needs your help! A fundraiser has been scheduled for May 12th and you are invited!
“Center Grove Rocks The Park” is an all day battle of the bands and silent auction. All the bands who have signed to compete are kids ranging in age from 9 to 15! Admission if free and everyone gets 5 tickets to vote for their favorite bands, additional votes are $1 each and the bands can fundraise ahead of time to get more votes. All funds raised will benefit the expansion and improvements at Independence Park. There will be food from “The NY Slice” food truck and “Der Pretzel Wagon” among others. The silent auction will also be amazing!
Independence Park is a very special place in Greenwood. I have never been to a park like it and I am so thankful that there is a park like Independence Park. In 2000, a woman named Edwina was trying to find a park that had a place for her son and his friends to play — her son is disabled. When she couldn’t find one, she set out on a journey to create a place where all children could play together. After a lot of hard work, grant writing and fundraising, Independence Park was born.
