I know I’ve told you all before that one of my FAVORITE summer memories was going to concerts in our city park on Wednesday nights. It was a night that was reserved all summer long just for that. Mom would come home from work, we’d load up the car with lawn chairs, a blanket and a picnic dinner (generally pizza or chicken) and we’d make our way down the street to the biggest summer gatherings our city had. EVERYONE was there! EVERYONE!
Who was playing didn’t matter, what style the music was didn’t matter, the bugs didn’t matter, the heat wave didn’t matter — we were ready to run around with all of the other kids and dance in front of the stage! I miss being a kid at those concerts, I miss those sacred Wednesdays where we walked back to the car, dragging our things, exhausted, hot, sweaty and completely filled with joy.
I’m so glad that there are so many occasions in our area for my daughter to experience the complete happiness and excitement of being a part of our community and enjoying something together the way that I did. Now, as an adult I can sit back and watch her excitement from the crowd, the summer and the music. Here are a bunch of opportunities for you to do the same:
Concerts on the Canal - Free Admission to Indiana Historical Society

Oh yes, there will be more! Stay tuned and check back!
