The kids will be out of school for winter break soon and you want some fun, free things to do with kids in Indianapolis, right? Me too! Starting December 13th, there’s a free activity for your family to enjoy every day for twelve days! It’s the twelve days of Christmas in Indianapolis!
On December 13th from noon to 6pm, get FREE Admission to the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library. Our family has never visited this attraction but the 13th seems like a great time to go! All guests will receive a FREE bumper sticker.
December 14th from noon to 8pm, visit City Sidewalks for free ice skating and other great family fun! Free ice skating will take place in the Pam Am Plaza – bring your own skates or pay only $3 to rent them.
December 15th 10:30am-5:30pm, free elevator rides to the top of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on the Circle. The Circle is one of our favorite places to “hang out” during the holiday season (no joke, we loiter on the steps in the evening, enjoy hot chocolate and people watch — so do hundreds of other families).
December 16th from 10am to 5pm, you get to visit one of THE BEST holiday spots in the entire city, the Indiana State Museum. YOU MUST head up to level three and hang out at Celebration Crossing. I’m really looking forward to seeing the brand new Santa’s Playground. See you there?
December 17th 10am-3:30pm FREE admission to the James Whitcomb Riley Museum will host families.
December 18th noon to 3pm, the restored Morris Butler House will offer FREE admission.
December 19th at 5pm, don’t miss the free Winter Solstice event at the Indianapolis Museum of Art IMA.
December 20th from 10am to 4pm, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will offer free admission to the Hall of Fame Museum.
December 21st, 10am-5pm the Indiana History Center opens its doors for FREE admission. We love the You Are There interactive fun!
December 22nd 12:30-3:30pm don’t miss the Victorian holidays at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site. Free admission today!
December 23rd from 5:15am – 10pm get free admission to the National Institute for Fitness and Sport (NIFS). You will probably find our family visiting at some point during the day because we’ve never been here!
December 24th from 10am-2pm, stop by the Children’s Museum for free admission. What a fantastic way to spend Christmas Eve!
