Extreme Family FunDo you have an adventurous family? Do you just wish you did, and you’d like to encourage them to dive into a new and exciting activity? There are places in and around Indy that offer up just that! If you’re looking for “extreme” family fun, look no further. I’ve done all the hard work for you. Check it out.

Go Ape Zipline and Treetop Adventure at Eagle Creek Park—This place is getting rave reviews! You choose your adventure—the treetop adventure offers a huge zip line throughout the tree tops, along with high ropes obstacles, bridges, tunnels, and ladders. The age minimum is 10 years old, and 1 adult is required to supervise no more than 2 children, ages 10-15. Safety comes first, and all adventurers are equipped with a harness, so no need to worry!

The park at Traders Point rock climbing wall indy with kidsFast Times Indoor Karting Indy– This awesome course is open 7 days a week, and is located on Harper Road in Indianapolis. The bi-level track offers open racing, private events, and leagues. This experience is as safe as they come, with roll bars, helmets, and caution lights on the karts. What’s the catch? You must be 18. Wait, this is Indy with KIDS, isn’t it? Well, then check out the Junior Karting experience. Kids must be at least 53 inches tall and accompanied by a parent or guardian. Junior hours are anytime Sunday through Thursday, and before 6 pm on Friday and Saturday. Get more info.

Indy Acres Paintball—On East Raymond Street in Indy, you are only moments away from an outdoor paintball field suitable for kids ages 8 and up. If you hop over to East Washington Street, you’ll come across Indy Acres indoor field, where laser tag paintball takes your adventures to a whole new level. Private parties are welcomed—you bring food and drinks, and Indy Acres provides the fun. The open play option allows a few friends to stop in, or an entire group. Midwest Balloon Rides—If you’re feeling really adventurous, here’s your chance to cash in! Midwest Balloon Rides is located in Fishers, and offers some serious thrills. Taking off at sunrise and sunset, you get to experience the Indianapolis skyline from above the treetops, and that’s not something that happens to just anyone! Check out the sunrise flight over downtown…can you imagine?! If you’re not feeling like you’re ready to join in the ranks of the world’s most adventurous, Midwest Balloon Rides also offer tethered rides, so you’re up, up, up, in the sky…but you’re still tethered to the ground.

Rascal’s Fun Zone—Located about a half hour south of Indy in Whiteland, Rascal’s offers something for just about everyone! This  facility offers go-karts, mini-bowling, miniature golf, bumper boats, a huge arcade and game room, and plenty of space for birthday parties. You can go to to their website for coupons, too! Their email club also offers special deals. All day wristbands are available, or you can get a pass by the hour. Rascal’s also offers family packages, as well as single attraction prices. Indoor activities are usually running, but weather could affect the outdoor attractions, so be sure to be prepared before you go.

Hoosier Trail Rides at Fort Harrison State Park—From parent-assisted pony rides, to full horse trail rides, this adventure will give you a great experience in the wild outdoors with some of man’s favorite animals. Hoosier Trail Rides also offers hayrides, riding lessons, and clinics. Trail rides can last anywhere from 35 minutes to an hour, depending on the experience you choose. All trail rides are for ages 6 and up only, and they do welcome walk-ins, but if you have a party of more than 10, a reservation is recommended. More info here.paintball2banner

Climb Time Indy—Open 7 days a week, Climb Time is an indoor rock-climbing gym that offers fun for any age. Wednesdays are kid’s club nights, and they also offer a high school night every Monday for the older kids. Groups are welcome, as are parties. If you’re really looking for something fun to do, check out the lock-ins that they offer! You can actually get locked into the gym starting at 9:30 pm to 7 am the next morning.
