Lake Havasu City, Arizona: Beaches, Boats and So Much More

havasu3There’s a lot to do in Lake Havasu City, Arizona! I had no idea how many activities there were because when we go, we just hang out in the water! Now that we have children (and less money), we are exploring options other than boating.

Beaches

Please keep in mind a few things when it comes to beaches; we’ve found that during the summer it’s too hot to touch ANYTHING! This goes for playgrounds and sand and picnic tables! All amenities are on a first come, first serve basis in most cases. Take umbrellas, sunblock, blankets, sunglasses, water…. or be miserable and perhaps in danger from the heat!

Rotary Beach (1400 S. Smoketree Ave., Havasu City, AZ) has a large waterfront, picnic areas, grills to cook on, playgrounds, volleyball courts, ball fields, restrooms, walking trails and a skate park. Free entrance.havasucity1

Lake Havasu State Park (699 London Bridge Rd., Lake Havasu City, AZ) has white sand beaches, grills, picnic tables, shade structures and a hiking trail. Parking is $10 Monday-Thursday and $15 Friday-Sunday & holidays.

London Bridge Beach (1340 McCulloch Blvd., Havasu City, AZ) has picnic tables, grills, a dog park, baseball, sand volleyball, grassy areas and a swim area. Free entrance.

Boating

When we do decide to boat, we either go with friends or rent. There are many places havasucity3to launch your own boat and there are even more places to rent boats or jet skiis.

Fishing

If you plan on fishing, make sure you have an Arizona fishing license. Kids under 14 do not need a license. Annual licenses are available but daily permits are also available. You can buy them online, at Walmart or Kmart or at some fishing supply stores.

There’s golf, gaming and casinos, shopping, off roading (you can rent vehicles for this too!), tours, day trips and plenty of yummy places to eat. The nightlife during Spring Break is incomparable to anything else.

More Places to Stay Cool

Check out the fun activities planned at the local library. The Mohave County Library offers story times, song times, crafts, family fun times and more in their Kids Town Area.havasucity2

Lake Havasu City has an Indoor Aquatic Center which we found was so much nicer than being outdoors when the temperature was too hot.

Sometimes you can find some fun events at the Community/Recreation Centers.

Catch a movie at Movies Havasu! Go bowling at Havasu Lanes.

Be sure to check for coupons and discounts.
