Today I had a great conversation with the organizer of the Children’s Area at the Penrod Arts Fair and I was filled in on all of the fun planned for the Children’s Area. The Penrod Arts Fair is the largest one day arts fair in the United States and it takes place here in Indy at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (1300 W. 38th St.). On Saturday, September 8th from 9am-5pm check out six stages of entertainment (including a children’s stage), 300 hundred artists and learn about more than 50 arts related not for profit organizations.
Our family is always searching for opportunities to introduce our children to the arts and get them engaged in creating and appreciating others creations, the Penrod Arts Fair is a great event to do that! Named, Indiana’s Nicest Day, everyone is hoping for beautiful weather and a great crowd.
In addition to the traditional art fair offerings, the Children’s Area will feature activities and vendors and performers specifically for kids. On the Children’s Stage you see and hear from dancers, puppeteers, participate in rhythm fun with bill bailey and the Society of Young Magicians will feature kids doing magic.
Kids can work on pottery with Don Edwards Pottery, pet animals in the petting zoo, play games and do other activities, visit the Eagle Creek Discovery Trailer and Radio Disney will be on site broadcasting all day!
Tickets are available for purchase online for the presale price of $15. Tickets will be $20 the day of the event. Kids 10 and under are free. Parking is available at the IMA for $25 until the lots are full but FREE parking with a shuttle is available at the locations below and “Pedal & Park” will operate a free bike corral for those who want to ride their bikes to the Fair. The corral will be located off the Central Canal Towpath at the Pony Truss Bridge (Red Bridge) entrance to the IMA Grounds.
