Strawberry Picking Near Me | Sweet U-Pick Strawberries Near Indianapolis

If you’re searching for “strawberry picking near me,” you’re about to learn that there is no shortage of options in the Indy area. There’s nothing like the sweet taste of sun-ripened fresh strawberries picked straight from the plant. Luckily, you won’t have to drive far to find a place to harvest your very own delicious berries.

Strawberry picking in Indianapolis is a popular early summer tradition for many local families. The little ones tend to eat their weight in berries as they move down the rows in the strawberry patch. The car will smell sweet on the drive home from the boxes of fresh-picked berries and the juice that stains tiny hands and faces.

What month is best for strawberry picking? When is Indiana strawberry season? It all depends on the weather. In the past, we’ve picked strawberries during the Indy 500 race day, and in other years, we’ve picked during the month of June. We always recommend calling the farm you wish to visit ahead of time to verify that they will have ripe berries for you to pick. Most farms also regularly update their Facebook pages and other social media with info about hours and availability during berry season.

  • As with all activities and events on Indy with Kids, we recommend that you call ahead to confirm that there are self-picking times available.
  • Strawberry picking season is about three weeks in length. Berries typically ripen towards the end of May and are available through early-mid June.
  • We also recommend bringing cash to pay for your berries, as some places are not equipped to take a credit card.
