Audra Dittlinger and Family

What are some favorite places our readers might run into you sometime?
Beef & Boards! It’s one of my favorite places in the city. Also, during the month of May, you’ll find me at the track.

Tell us about your family?
We live in rural Alexandria, and I grew up close to Indy. We frequently make trips to Indy to play, eat, and visit. We’re a small, but growing family! We currently consist of myself, my adorable husband Chris, daughter Anissa, 2 dogs, and 1 baby on the way! My husband works as a low-voltage electrician, and I am currently a freelance writer and insurance agent.

What non-child related things do you do for fun?
Does sleep count? Ha!

Best place to eat in Indy
· with kids—we recently discovered Studio Movie Grill; I love that we can get dinner and a show, and I feel like I’m treating myself to some “me” time all at once! We also love The Old Spaghetti Factory; my parents took me there as a kid, and I love continuing the tradition. Dessert? Cold Stone Creamery.
· with a girlfriend—The Melting Pot. Always. Cheese. Wine. Laughs.
· on a date—The Melting Pot wins again, but I love walking the streets of downtown and wandering into whichever small bistro or restaurant we can find. I get bored easily, so it’s hard to pinpoint one favorite place…there are just too many! Oh, and you can’t go wrong at Ruth’s Chris.

What do you do with your kids on a rainy day?
Movie and art day inside, or a trip to a museum!

Is your family more of an outdoor family or indoor family? Depends on the day. Mama can’t hang with 90 degree weather, unless it’s in a pool!

What’s to love about Indy?
What’s not to love?!! I recently heard a comedian on the radio say that Indy is like a mini-Chicago, but cleaner, and with nicer people. I have to say, that makes me pretty proud! I love Indy.

What’s on your playlist?
I’m all over the place with this. Broadway show tunes, Billy Joel, Green Day, all classic rock, Blues Traveler, Jewel, Aerosmith, oldies, more show tunes…I love music, and I love it all.

What’s one thing your kids would say you aren’t very good at?
Ha! Probably that I can’t manage to consistently remember to give my 4 year old her vitamin. It never fails that I’ll remember at night, just as she’s brushing her teeth to go to bed. Every night, I get, “Mommy…you forgot my ‘bitamin’ again!”

What are you most looking forward to in 2015?
Baby #2 and some SERIOUS transitions on the professional level! Excited!

How would your best friend describe you in three words?
Since I have to keep it clean, I’m going with: sarcastic, generous, and #controlfreak. Hashtags automatically turn two words into one, right?!
