Date Night: Escape to Margaritaville

Calling all Parrotheads! Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre wraps up the summer with a seaside escape to the fabulous music of Jimmy Buffett in Escape to Margaritaville, now on stage.

I had a great time checking out this show and of course the amazing buffet! Whether you’re a Jimmy Buffet fan or not, head to this show for a wonderful evening out. Even if you don’t know all of Buffet’s music, the storyline is easy to follow, and enjoyable.

Tully is a smooth-talking singer/bartender and a self-deprecating playboy at a tropical resort. He thinks he’s got life all figured out until Rachel, an ambitious, beautiful, and career-minded tourist steals his heart and makes him question everything.

Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville is a musical comedy featuring both original songs and your most-loved Jimmy Buffett classics including “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” “Margaritaville,” “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” “Fins,” “Volcano,” and many more.

With a book by Emmy Award winner Greg Garcia (“My Name is Earl,” “Raising Hope”) and Emmy nominee Mike O’Malley (“Survivor’s Remorse,” “Shameless”), this hilarious, heartwarming musical is the party you’ve been waiting for! USA Today calls the show “A little slice of paradise.” and Entertainment Weekly says “It will knock your flip-flops off!”

Kyle Southern makes his Beef & Boards debut as Tully, with Amanda Tong (Saturday Night Fever, Man of La Mancha) as Rachel. Brett Mutter (Newsies, A Christmas Story) stars as Tully’s friend Brick, and Hannah Elizabeth Boswell makes her Beef & Boards debut as Rachel’s friend, Tammy. The show is directed by
Douglas E. Stark and choreographed by Ron Morgan, with musical director Terry Woods.
