Eagle Creek Earth Discovery Center

Grab your hiking boots and head to Eagle Creek Park! Books and Boots takes place during school breaks and makes a perfect staycation activity for those looking for some outdoor adventure.

These programs start in the Earth Discovery Center where you’ll read a book. For the summer session of Books and Boots, they’ll will be reading I am Josephine (and I am a living thing) by Jan Thornhill and Jacqui Lee. This book focuses on classification starting with the basics of if something is a living thing (like a tree) or not (like a rock). It also focuses on smaller groups like animals, then mammals, then human, and then to the individual. Once the book is finished the book, the group will venture outside and start to classify the things around you! How many animals will you find? How many humans? How many living things? Join the adventure to find out! Come dressed for the weather and being outdoors.

This program is free with park admission. There is no need to register. An adult must stay with their children for the duration of the program.

Two Sessions:

Tuesday, July 16
Sessions will be the same book and same explorations.
Meet at the Earth Discovery Center.
Program will run from 10:00am-11:30am.
