The Indiana Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center and the Indiana State Department of Health over the past nine years have hosted the Sickle Cell-abration community event to raise awareness of Sickle Cell disease in the greater Indianapolis area. There are over a 1,000 Indiana residents living and surviving with this devastating disease. The Sickle Cell-abration is a way to celebrate their lives and advocate for more awareness. This year’s event will highlight a variety of art created by those living with Sickle Cell disease.
This year we will host a patient and family luncheon including a special guest speaker. Immediately following the luncheon will be live entertainment open to the public including dance, spoken word, and gospel music.
The 2018 Sickle Cell-abration: Expressions of Sickle Cell will be held at The Pike Performing Arts Center on September 22nd from 3:30-6:00pm. Doors will open at 3:00pm. This special event is free. We invite families, friends, and the general community to come out to enjoy an afternoon of education and entertainment as we highlight the accomplishments and different expressions of Sickle Cell disease.
