First Start Computer Science offers coding camps for kids (ages 5 -15)!
​Don’t just let your child play on the computer/tablet, but instead embark them on a journey to gain the skills necessary to design and create their very own application! Camps are a great way to spark an interest in computer programming, an essential skill of the 21st century!

CODING & 3D CRAFTS CAMP (Grades K-4):  $148
Dates: ​July 30, 31 Aug 1, 2
Time: 9:30-12:00 noon
This camp teaches the building blocks of coding and serves as a foundation for more advanced coursework.  It is designed for new students with little or no coding experience.  Students will have an engaging experience learning basic coding skills with practical applications. The course is recommended for children ages 5 to 9 years where we focus on mathematical skills, sequence, and repetition! Students work in virtual environments using computers/tablets, then practice and expand what they’ve learned using 3D construction materials such as wood, foam, and cardboard. All the materials will be provided, students are encouraged to bring a snack.

POKÉMON CODING ADVENTURE (Grades 2-8):  $158

Calling all Pokémon fans! First Start Computer Science (FSCS) is now offering a Pokémon-themed coding camp! Mrs. R will teach you how to create your very own Pokémon games with your favorite Pokémon, such as Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle! Students will get step-by-step instructions to make a game where their favorite Pokémon can talk, move, dance, and even save Earth from alien monsters using their special attacks! Join this popular camp to spark your child’s curiosity with the endless possibilities of the amazing world of Pokémon!

SIMPLE WEB DESIGN CAMP (Grades 4-8):  $158

Do you have a first time coder? No worries! Join this exciting new text-based technology camp where kids from all levels will have loads of fun learning three new languages in four days to build dynamic pages of interest! We master coding basics and address a real world problem by building some amazing interactive projects to share with friends and family! If you have a middle school child, don’t miss signing up for this wonderful camp where art and design meet technology!

CODING MADE EASY! (Grades 2-6):  $158

First Start Computer Science introduces a new way to code! This course makes it easy, interesting and fun to learn coding, through a simple text-based programming language. Campers develop a passion for programming in this visual environment and is perfect for young children as well! By the end of the camp, campers would have mastered the commands and walk away with new coding skills and their projects! This is a camp you don’t want to miss if you have a young engineer who is ready to explore programming!

RASPBERRY Pi SenseHat (Grades 6-8):  $158
Dates: August 6, 7, 8, 9
Time: 10:30-12:00 noon
Wanted to have a computer to just experiment with? Or maybe build your own gaming device? Or even learn the Python programming language? Well look no further, the Raspberry Pi with the SenseHat extension is what you need! In the course, you’ll get the latest Raspberry Pi, a SenseHat with an LED screen and a joystick, along with all the tools and knowledge required to use it. Come join us for a fun-filled coding experience!
Hardware: Laptop & Raspberry Pi Kit Software: Updated operating system (preferably Windows)
