The school closures due to the Coronavirus Pandemic have raised concerns for many, as countless families rely on the free and reduced lunch programming at schools to provide meals to their children. We want to make sure that all families know where to go to access food, free of charge, to those in need. Please continue to check this article, as we will continue to update this information.

Marion County

Beech Grove Schools will have free “Grab and Go” breakfast and lunch meals available to ALL (children, young people, and adults). One member of the household may pick up meals for everyone in the household and there are no income restrictions. Breakfast: 9-10 am and Lunch: Noon-1 pm. Pick up is available at the main entrance of the following schools in Beech Grove:

  • Beech Grove Middle School
  • South Grove Intermediate
  • Hornet Park Elementary

Indy Parks and Recreation is continuing its free after school meal services for youth ages 18 and under and will follow the schedule below Monday-Friday. 

  • Christian Park-  Dinner 4-6 pm
  • Douglass Park- Snack 3:30-4:30 pm; Dinner 5:30-6:30 pm 
  • Municipal Gardens- Dinner 5-7 pm 
  • Riverside Park- Dinner 4-6 pm
  • Washington Park- Dinner 3-3:30/6-6:30 pm 
  • Watkins Park- Dinner 4-5 pm/7-8 pm
  • Windsor Village Park- Dinner 5-5:30 pm

Indianapolis Public Schools will have free breakfast and lunch at seven designated locations to anyone under 18, even if they are not IPS students. These meals will be available Monday-Friday, from 11-1 pm in the parking lots of the following schools:

  • George Washington
  • Arlington Woods
  • Brookside
  • Charles Fairbanks
  • James Whitcomb Riley
  • Eleanor Skillen
  • Carl Wilde 

Lawrence Township will have grab and go breakfasts and lunches for a five day period, Monday, March 16 and Monday, March 23 between 11-1 pm. These meals will be available to all students at no cost at the following sites:

  • Brook Park Elementary
  • Harrison Hill Elementary
  • Indian Creek Elementary 
  • Fall Creek Valley Middle School
  • Lawrence North High School
  • Churchill (Community Site) 
  • Maison Gardens (Community Site) 
  • Postbrook (Community Site) 

Perry Township Schools will provide lunches to those who need them. The meals are available to anyone who is 18 years old or younger regardless of where they attend school. Note: Students must be present in order to receive the food. Meals are available Monday-Friday from 11 am-Noon at these schools:

  • Perry Meridian High School
  • Southport High School.
  • Perry Meridian Middle School
  • Southport Middle School
  • Abraham Lincoln Elementary School
  • Clinton Young Elementary School
  • Southport Elementary School

Warren Central High School will offer free food to all children 18 years of age and under. Come to door #1 between the hours of 11 am-1 pm, Monday- Friday during the school closure. 

Washington Township Schools will offer free meal packets for any WT families during the school closure. “Grab and Go” meal packets will contain 8 days of breakfast and lunch supplies. Distribution will be held at every WT school through curb service pick-up due to social distancing recommendation: Wednesday, March 18 from 9-11 am and 5-7 pm. If you are unable to pick-up meals during the times above on March 18th, please complete our Meal Assistance During School Closure Form. A staff member from the MSDWT Child Nutrition team will follow-up with you within 24 hours.

Hamilton County 

Carmel Clay Schools will provide school-aged children with supplemental food during this closure. You must complete the Supplemental Food Request Form no later than Monday, March 16 or contact your school’s social worker or counselor. Food Pick Up is Wednesday, March 18 from 10 am-2 pm at Carmel High School, Door #9. Families are to stay in their vehicles in the Carmel High School carpool line, as the supplemental food packs will be delivered directly to the vehicle by CCS staff.

Westfield Washington Nutrition Services will provide grocery bags of healthy supplies to WWS families in need. Grocery bags will contain five days of breakfast and lunch supplies for students and families, on Monday March 16, 23, and 30. These groceries will be available at Westfield Middle School from 11-12 pm, or 5-6 pm. In addition, food will be delivered by several buses, and will follow the following routes and stops:

Hamilton Southeastern Food and Nutrition Services will distribute three weeks of food that will include breakfast and lunch items, from the parking lot of three HSE schools. Food will be distributed between 1-4 pm on Monday, March 16. Families will not need to get out of their car, a drive-thru will be set up for easy access at the following locations: 

  • Fishers High School
  • Hamilton Southeastern High School
  • Durbin Elementary School

Noblesville Schools, in partnership with Fueled for School, will be distributing meals to the children within the district who need it. Please contact the school in which your child attends, to be connected with food resources.

Sheridan Community Schools will be handing out free sack lunches for students. They will be available Monday-Friday, from 11-1 pm through April 2, at the following drop off points:

  • Sheridan High School Gym Lobby
  • Old Library Parking Lot. Main Street, Sheridan 
  • Drive West of Water Tower (East of State Road 47) 

Johnson County

Franklin Community Schools food service staff will prepare and distribute grab-and-go meals. Breakfasts and lunches will be packaged together, for several days of use.  The service dates and times are March 16/17 and March 23/24 at Northwood Elementary School from 11:30- 12:30 pm 

Hendricks County

Avon Community School Corporation has food packages are available to all ACSC families. Packages will include ten breakfast and lunch meals. Packages are available for pickup at the ACSC Administration building, Monday-Friday from 7:30 am-4 pm. Parents are asked to sign in with name, student name(s), and building, and will be limited to one package per school age student. 

Plainfield Community Schools– Plainfield schools have sent information about truck routes directly to all students via Parent Square account. These truck routes will begin March 16th, and more information can be found here. 

Brownsburg Community School Corporation Nutrition Services will offer bags of food to supplement your meals while schools are closed. BCSC families should arrive at Brownsburg High School from the north, via Tilden Drive ( like a typical school drop-off day) and travel south on Bulldog Way behind the home football stands. Follow the path around door 14 and 15 for distribution. Look for officers directing traffic. 

Messiah Lutheran Church (801 S Green St.)  in Brownsburg will be open 10-12 on Saturday March 14th. They will have boxes prepared and will be set up in the parking lot for a drive-thru style. You can call ahead at (317) 852-2988 to make sure it is open. They also keep boxes prepared, so if you call ahead during the week, even when the pantry is closed, they will have one available for pick up. 

Bartholomew County

Camillas Mexican Restaurant in Columbus, is offering free breakfast to the first 200 children Monday, March 16 from 10-11 am. Breakfast will include eggs, sausage, rice, and fruit.
