February Homeschool Events and Activities in Indianapolis

February 3: Homeschool Gym

10am-11am

Make friends while learning a variety of games, exercises and sports. Activities include capture the flag, basketball, soccer and more!  This program meets every Monday and runs for four weeks.  The session fee is $25.  You can register online or by calling  (317) 848-7275.

February 3: Homeschool Nature

The resident naturalist will lead you through hands-on activities and experiments through science exploration. Participating in Homeschool Nature helps meet Indiana State science requirements such as life, earth, and space, as well as geography and more.  This program meets on Monday and will have class February 3, 10, and 24th.  The session fee is $19 is available for ages 6-13.  You can register online or by calling  (317) 848-7275.

February 4: Homeschool Open Gym

2-3:30 pm

This is a great option for PE or recess on the first and third Tuesday of the month!  The cost of the first child participating is $7, with each additional child being $5.

February 4: Homeschool Tuesdays “Happy Birthday, Abe!”

Dive into a world of investigation and discovery during these two-hour classes designed to stimulate a child’s interest in science, art, history and culture. This month, it’s Abraham Lincoln’s 111th birthday, and we are celebrating by exploring the life of a pioneer.

February 5: Homeschool Swim

Splash into fun with other homeschooling families!  This course is designed to provide swimmers with free time to enjoy the indoor pools, water features, and water slides.  This program meets every Wednesday and runs for four weeks.  The session fee is $40 and is available for ages 3-15.  You can register online or by calling  (317) 848-7275

February 5: Homeschool Enrichment: Literati- Indiana History

Calling all young scholars! Come to the Noblesville Library to expand your mind on the liberal arts! This homeschool enrichment program will cover topics such as artist, author, world studies and more! Each session will include group instruction, a hands on activity and independent learning centers. Geared for ages 9-13. No registration required.

February 5: Homeschool Choose Your Own Adventure (Teen)

In this program for teens, they will immerse themselves in an adventure and attempt the wisest choices in order to survive!

February 10: Homeschool Spanish Storytime

This activity for those under 12, has the children enjoy a story in English and Spanish, expanding their vocabulary in another commonly used language.

February 11: Homeschool Hikers: Investigating Hibernating Insects

Plan a break from the books to learn about nature and get your kids outside.  We will discuss a specific topic, this month being hibernating insects, and then explore the outdoors.

February 12: Homeschool Clay Day

10am-2pm
Ripple Mobile Arts, 4550 Central Avenue, Indianapolis 46205

In this four hour program, you will literally spend the day in clay.  Not only will you mold a rocket ship or castle out of clay, you will also be able to choose an item to create on the pottery wheel.  You can choose from a bowl, mug, candle holder, mini vase, basket, plate, or whatever else you can imagine!  Your child will spend the day using their creative skills to work on their unique creations, and will even be allowed to integrate glasswork into their design for a pop of color.  This class will include a short break for play and lunch. (Please pack a sack lunch.)  This is available as a drop-off program. The class fee for each child is $40.

February 12: Newfields Homeschool Open Studio

Looking for new ways to learn about art? Expand your family’s creativity by exploring a variety of art-making materials in Newfields Homeschool Open Studio sessions. Instructor will provide advice to make curriculum connections and stimulate imaginations. Registration required in advance. $10 Members/ $15 Public

February 13: Full STEAM Ahead “Valentine’s Candy Science”

Calling all homeschoolers! Join us for this Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts, and Math focused enrichment program.  This month will be a special presentation of The Great Iditarod Race.  Karen Land, three time Iditarod musher and her faithful canine Noggin will entertain with stories from the Alaskan Trail.  No registration is required. This program is open to homeschoolers of all ages.

February 13: Black History “Celebrate the Story”

Join us for a celebration of contributions and culture, while learning about change makers throughout black history.  In this class you will explore African folk tales, participate in a poetry slam, create your own art inspired by works of black artists, and learn about the importance of music through the decades.  Suggested audience is ages 4 and up.  Advance registration is required.

February 15: Monthly Make It “Woven Mug Rug”

Adults and children ages 8 and older are invited to make a simple loom and use timeless weaving techniques to make a coaster for tea or hot cocoa!

February 19: History in Clay Art Class

Create your own representation of history.  This month’s lesson will focus on Egyptian Pyramids and the Sphynx.  Each child will create two projects out of clay at every class.  Each child will receive instruction to hand build, glaze, and experience the pottery wheel.  (This class is not intended to be a lesson on the pottery wheel, but more of an experience.)  This class is available for all ages, as low as 3 (with parental assistance.)  The class fee for the first child is $15, with sibling discounts available for additional children.

February 19: Homeschool Glass Explorers: Adventures with Stringers

This teen program allows students the opportunity to let their imagination run wild, while using the giant green screen to create videos or photographs.
