iupui regatta

Some of my best memories of being a young adult come from the year I was on the college rowing team. A couple years ago when I saw that IUPUI (my alma mater) had an annual regatta, I was super interested. Over time, the regatta appears to have turned into a WEEK LONG event with tons of activities for alumni and students.

One thought: the IUPUI Regatta is awesome! Your kids will love it, you will love it and there’s plenty to do for everyone! PLENTY!

Saturday is Family Day for IUPUI Regatta Week and with the fun boat race in the canal and the festival, this is the BEST free activity for your family this week in Indy. Over 100 teams will board canoes in the canal and thousands of people will line the banks to cheer them on and watch as they race to the finish, or tip over. The ½ mile canoe race begins at the Spruance Basin at 11th Street.

The festival includes a marketplace, bounce houses, face painting, live musical performances, art contests, a dog costume contest, a “Bring Your Own Boat” Cardboard Boat Float contest, Henna tattoos, a rock climbing wall, sumo wrestling and so much more that you don’t want to miss!

Parking is available on 11th street between Capitol and Senate. Opening ceremonies and Heat One begin at 10:30am on Saturday, September 21st. Here’s a printable guide and map for you.
