There’s no question that Conner Prairie’s grounds and activities really keep our families busy during the warmer months of the year — Headless Horseman, the splash area, the farm animals, the historic homes, the gardens and the cast of residents are just a few things that come to mind. Be prepared to have your socks knocked off, or you just might knit some of your own in their brand new Makesmith Workshop.

The maker movement is rapidly growing and maker-spaces have become very popular across the board and across generations. With Conner Prairie’s history of celebrating the maker over time and showing children and families how things were made, it’s no surprise that this bold, colorful and powerful space would come to fruition in this place.

This permanent exhibit is now open and because it’s located indoors, it will be open year round for guests to tinker, make and create. There’s really nothing more hands-on that this exhibit and it really takes interactive to a whole new level.
