March Homeschool Activities Around Indianapolis | 2017

Practice cooking, create art, learn about science through everyday objects, and, of course, get some exercise. There are so many things for homeschoolers to do this March, it was hard to fit them all in! Here’s your guide to finding a new homeschool adventure.
Registration opens for the 2017 Spring Homeschool Jamboree on March 6. Homeschool Jamboree will take place on March 31 but families with children ages 8-14 need to register early for this popular event.

March 1 — 29: Homeschool Swim. Every Wednesday from 12:00 — 1:00, the Monon Community Center at Carmel Parks offers swim lessons just for homeschoolers! This ongoing program offers individualized learning for homeschoolers of all abilities, ages 3-15. The cost is $50 per month. You can learn more and register by calling 317-848-7275.

March 2: Homeschool Adventures at Franklin Road Branch Library. 1:30. This program is designed for homeschool students ages 6-12 and their parents. Free, no registration required.

March 2: Homeschool Maple Syrup Field Trip. 1:00, 2:00, or 3:00. Homeschool families are invited to the Bray Family Homestead to learn about making maple syrup, the history of one of the first settlements in Washington Township, and its connection with the Underground Railroad. Enter the park off of Hinkle Road. Groups will be picked up by our wagon and transported to the first station. Dress for the weather and potentially muddy conditions. March 7: Homeschool Tuesday at Indiana State Museum. This week’s theme is Science of Sports. The cost is $4 per student and you can register by calling 317.232.1637

March 7: Home School Open Gym at Gymnastics Unlimited. 2:00 – 3:30. Get some exercise and have fun bouncing in bounce houses and trampolines. Open to homeschool families of all ages.

March 10: Italian Culture & Cuisine/ Pasta Making at Market District in Carmel. 10:00 — 12:00. Learn knife skills and some facts about Italian culture while preparing some delicious food! Open to ages 6-12. $20.

March 10: Family Open Gym at Jaycie Phelps Athletic Center. 12:00 — 2:00. Families with children of all ages are invited to come out for a fun open gym time that includes exploring trampolines, foam pits, and challenge circuits! $5 per child, max. $15 per family.

March 13: uPaint Homeschool Art Day. 1:00 — 3:00. Drop in for this fun class on fusing glass and making sun catchers! $13 per student includes all supplies.

March 23: H2O Detective at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. 10:00 — 11:30 or 1:00 — 2:30. Make art using oil and water, study the American bullfrog, and figure out how to clean up the water after an oil spill! A fun class full of water-themed activities. This program is geared towards children ages 4 and up with a registered adult. The cost is $2 for member adults/ $4 member youth, $2.50 nonmember adults/ $5 nonmember youth.

March 31: Family Open Gym at Jaycie Phelps Athletic Center. 12:00 — 2:00. Families with children of all ages are invited to come out for a fun open gym time that includes exploring trampolines, foam pits, and challenge circuits! $5 per child, max. $15 per family.
