Can you believe it’s already May? We’re wrapping up our “school year,” and there are lots of local events happening that are perfect for closing out the traditional year and welcoming summer. Here are the ones you won’t want to miss in May:

Homeschool Tuesday at the Indiana State Museum

May 1 at 11:30 am

Wild Indiana: Explore three of the natural regions found in Indiana, learn about practicing biodiversity, and examine four exotic invasive species.

Homeschool Adventures: Indy Public Library

May 3 at 1:30 pm

Parent educators are invited to join their children at the Franklin Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library for special activities designed just for homeschoolers!

Homeschool Hikers at Cool Creek Nature Center

May 15 at 1 pm

Grab your comfy shoes and get out to explore nature! This month’s hike will focus on becoming a citizen scientist. This event is free but registration is requested.

Scholastic Book Fair Warehouse Sale

May 21: Noon-7 pm
May 22: 10 am-7 pm
May 23: 10 am-7 pm
May 24: 9 am-1 pm

This year, the warehouse in Indy has closed down and everything moved to Cincy. However, those Scholastic people know how Indianapolis loves their warehouse sale, so they’re hosting a REMOTE Warehouse Sale. We’ll tell you what you need to know.

Homeschool Days: The First Bloom Tour at Piney Acres Farm

May 2 and 4 at various times

Experience new life on the farm, paired with a lesson built around the biblical story of creation. This event includes a hayride, a visit to the baby animals, gem mining, and more!

Homeschool: Speed, Science, and Hot Wheels at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

May 10 at Noon and 2:30 pm

Homeschoolers can have fun playing with Hot Wheels and learning the science behind speed, auto racing, and automotive design. They’ll also learn how innovations in racing help keep regular drivers safe on the road.

Homeschool Arts Day

Fridays at 2 pm

Every Friday, homeschoolers can head to the Garfield Park Arts Center for a special time to get creative! Classes are $5 per child per week, and parents must accompany children under 13.
