We love visiting the Observation Deck at the City County Building. It’s a fantastic view of the city, it’s something special for the kids, the elevator ride is fun and it’s FREE!
UPDATE FOR 2020: The Observation Deck at the City County Building is currently closed due to COVID-19.
City County Building Observation Deck
Every year for the holidays, the Observation Deck is kept open until 10pm on on a few special nights so that you can take in the sights of Monument Circle from high above. It’s a great view friends!
The City County Building is where important business happens during the day. The museum and observation deck are always open during the weekdays for you to ride the elevator up and see the whole city and enjoy a little bit of Indianapolis history. Let me tell you about the view at night…no, I can’t tell you, you have to see it! Indianapolis is a beautiful city and this is where you’ll get one of the best views. Plus, during the holidays and at night, the view of Monument Circle is unbelievable!
Where is the City County Building Observation Deck?
The City County Building is located at 200 E Washington Street, Indianapolis. Walk on in and ride the elevator to the top floor! You’ll have to get off the first elevator part way up and transfer to another one, but it’s great fun!
When is the Observation Deck Open at Night?
Visit the day after Thanksgiving for Circle of Lights WITH Fireworks & Saturday too. The deck will be open 2 p.m. – 10 p.m. on both days. I recommend after dark, there’s nothing like it! Last year we watched the tree lighting on Monument Circle from up there and had the awesome experience of being so close to the fireworks!
The City County Building Observation Deck is also open Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th, 2019, 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
