Growing up in Indiana, there was a line from a commercial that always stuck with me.
“There’s more than corn in Indiana.”
Every time I drive by a corn field, I still sing the jingle in my head. If you too grew up here, you’re probably singing it right now.
While there is a great deal more to Indiana than corn, popcorn is a big crop for Hoosier farmers and with a long history in Indiana. Orville Redenbacher, popcorn pioneer, was born in Brazil, went to Purdue University and started his business in Indiana.
And, did you know that Indiana is the #2 producer of popcorn in the United States? Whether you’re eating it at home, at the theater, or at the ball park; chances are you are eating popcorn grown right here in Indiana.
My kids love popcorn and it’s one of those snacks that is easy, fast, and somewhat healthy. But when you want to liven up your popcorn game, here are some recipes your family will love!
Hoosier farming families continue working hard to produce the food you and your family enjoy every day. Thank you to our local soybean and corn farmers for sharing their favorite recipes. You can learn more about Indiana farmers and farming at The Glass Barn at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
