The Rock Camp is an all-summer, all-day camp for kids entering grades 1-5 in the fall of 2020. As a ministry of Community Church of Greenwood, The Rock Camp is not just another daycare alternative but a safe, creative, and dynamic summer experience that fits your schedule and offers safe, age-appropriate, engaging programming for your kid.

The Rock Camp is less stress than stringing together multiple care options, more affordable than a babysitter, and more enriching for the whole child than any other option. At The Rock Camp, we prioritize academics and combine that with a focus on imagination, life skills, and the relationships within a child’s world. We mix educational experiences with high energy environments packing every day with fun, noise, and learning. The Rock Camp is truly your answer to the question, “What are the kids going to do this summer?”

The Rock Camp is held on the campus of Community Church of Greenwood, 1477 W Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142. Most camp activities take place inside the church building, outside on the sports fields, or at The Gathering Place, our large sports and fitness facility that is owned and operated by the church. The Gathering Place is located on the church campus. Each week we also take exciting field trips to places like Freedom Springs and Conner Prairie.

The Rock Camp begins Thursday, May 28 and ends Wednesday, July 29 and is open every Monday-Friday, with the only “off day” being July 3. The camp opens each morning at 6:30 am with structured free play until daily activities start at 9:00 am. Daily structured activities end around 3:30 pm each day, and campers must be picked up before 6:00 pm.

A $99 non-refundable registration fee reserves your kid’s spot at The Rock Camp. And then the weekly cost is just $120 per week for 9 weeks. That is payable in full at the beginning of the summer or in monthly or weekly payments leading up to the start of camp. All field trips and special activities are included in your weekly payments!

The camp staff is a group of highly trained, vetted, and competent camp counselors whose sole summer mission is to give your child a rockin’ camp experience. The director of The Rock Camp is Kristen, a mother of two young kids and the Kids’ Ministry Director at Community Church of Greenwood.

Is this a Christian camp?

The Rock Camp is a ministry of Community Church of Greenwood. We believe in the importance of spiritual growth in our children and the integration of Biblical values into everyday life. We will begin most days with prayer or devotions, and expect Christian attitudes throughout all activities. While our days will be focused more on fun and activities, we do believe that campers will grow in their relationship with Christ and the application of their faith into their relationships with others. You do not have to have a church connection to come to The Rock Camp.

Who are the staff and how are they screened?

The Rock Camp hires high school graduates and college students to work as counselors for the entirety of the summer. All camp staff, counselors, and church staff are background checked and have gone through specific developmental training before the camp begins.

What is a typical day like?

On-campus days include all camp activities, lunch, and small group rotation activities. These could include silly games, kickball, guest presentations, and much more! Early morning and late afternoon during pick-up and drop-off are always structured free times. Imagine lots of games and activities. Field trip days and movie days take up the bulk of early to late afternoon, with lunch in the middle.

Can my kid come three days a week?

Applicants looking for part-time enrollment at a reduced rate will be placed on the waitlist and will be notified of openings after May 1st. Part-time campers willing to pay full camp fees ($120/ weekly) will be enrolled without waiting. Please note part-time days on application. To be placed on the waitlist, e-mail

What if we have a vacation planned during the summer?

Enjoy your time away! Attendance is flexible, but payment is not. All nine weeks of camp must be paid for by July 5th.

What safety measures are in place during the day?

Church doors are locked between pick-up and drop-off each day. Emergency evacuation plans are in place for fire, severe weather, and intruder situations. No staff is ever allowed to be one on one with a camper. Valid picture ID is required for the pick-up of a child every time.

How are medicines and special allergies handled?

All camp staff are CPR and First Aid certified in case of any medical or allergy emergency. There is an on-site, trained director to facilitate a safe, allergy-free environment and the proper medicinal protocols.

What about food?

Parents are responsible for packing lunch and two snacks each day. The Rock Camp will provide water fountains but all other drinks are to be provided by the parents and sent each day.

What is included with registration?

Nine weeks of camp (no camp on July 3rd), three t-shirts, all field trips, activities, and one rockin’ summer of memories!

Is there a payment plan?

Yes! You have the option to make advance payments or pay in full. We have a weekly schedule mapped out for payments. If you register after April 1st, the $99 registration fee and the first camp payment will be due at the time of registration.

Is there a sibling discount?

Due to the affordable nature of The Rock Camp, there is no sibling discount or scholarship available at this time.

What if my kid has special needs?

The Rock Camp is a ministry of Community Church of Greenwood. And while we love all children, and believe they all are valuable, we do ask for your child’s sake that all of our campers meet our Capable Camper Requirements. These requirements ensure your child has the best summer experience possible and is able to fully engage and enjoy the camp experience we offer at The Rock Camp. Contact us prior to registration so that we can make specific plans with you to give your kid a ROCKin’ summer.
