For the past couple of months, Washington Township Schools have distributed meal packets every week to families within the township who choose to take part in this service. Washington Township just announced that they will continue the meal distribution through the summer months.
Every Monday, families queue their vehicles at North Central High School from 11 am – 1pm and food service staff members, school staff members and volunteers distribute bags of meals to the waiting cars.
Participating families open the trunks of their cars as they approach the front of the line, signal how many children are in their immediate family and bags of food are loaded in to the trunk with no contact. Students are given milk cartons, sandwiches, cereal, fruit cups, salsa and cheese with chips, hummus, breakfast bars, juice, waffles, nuts and other assorted items to help supplement at home meals.
Summer meal distribution will take place every Monday, 11 am – 1pm at North Central High School, with the exception of Monday, May 25th. Due to the Memorial Day holiday food will be distributed on Tuesday, May 26th. This meal distribution site is intended for students who attend Washington Township Schools.
