Jacob and I weren’t really sure if we were meant to be parents to our own children. We weren’t sure we were really cut out for the early childhood years. When we were married, we made the decision to become foster parents. It was our intention to foster children who were older, we really enjoy hanging out with teenagers so it would be a perfect fit! Life changed for us and after finishing our classes and starting our home study, we decided to wait. Eventually we had our own children, whom we love so much and we’ve decided to continue to put the fostering to adopt plan on hold.
There are many children out there waiting for homes — temporary home and permanent homes. Every child has a story and each one of us can help in big and small ways. One way to help is to support the agencies and organizations that exist to help these children. The Villages has more than 20 offices located throughout Indiana that provide family services of many types. To learn more about The Villages, fostering or adoption, you can see their information night schedule here.
One way to help is to attend the CHAIRish the Children event at Lucas Estate on Friday, November 8th from 6 to 9pm. Attendees will enjoy heavy appetizers, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. The centerpiece of the event will be uniquely designed chairs created by local artists. Adult and child sized chairs will be highlighted in a silent auction, and all proceeds will benefit the children served by The Villages and Prevent Child Abuse Indiana. A collection of children’s and adult chairs, as well as children and chair themed artwork, will available for bidding in an online auction from November 1st at 9:00 a.m. to November 7th at 9:00 p.m. All items in the auction will continue to be available for bidding at the Friday night event including special live auction items. Check out some of the chairs online right now!
This chair would totally go well in my living room since we have a collectors map. This chair is super unique! It converts into a step ladder! What a fantastic creation and so beautiful! See, unique, right?
Tickets are $60 each or two for $100, and as mentioned before include the opportunity to hang out in the sports complex of the Lucas estate (former Hilbert mansion), heavy appetizers and beverages (2 alcoholic beverages are included – unlimited non-alcoholic), you’ll be supporting the Villages and their programs for the children of Indiana AND you get a chance to partake in a live and silent auction, also benefiting the children. Purchase those tickets right here.
