Things to Do in Hendricks County in February

There is no better way to share your love in February than spending quality time with the kids! There are plenty of places in and around Hendricks County to do this. The Indy With Kids Events Calendar is the ultimate guide for family bonding! 

February 1: Avon Model Train Display

10 am to 3 pm
Avon Hall Town Chamber, 6570 East US Highway 36, Avon, Indiana 46123

Train lovers don’t miss this! Over 5 layouts will be on display including a model of Union Station in Terre Haute. Members of the Central Indiana Division of the National Model Railroad Association will be there to answer questions. There will also be a scavenger hunt for a chance to win one of three toy train sets. Cost: Free. No Registration Required.

February 7: Mother Son Date Night

5 pm to 9 pm
uPaint Pottery Studio, 1820 East Main Street, Plainfield, IN 46168

Bring your special guy for an evening together. Pick your project from a wide assortment of items (think Valentine’s Day gift), plan your colors and design and paint! Cost: $5-$80 per pottery piece plus $5 studio fee (mom’s studio fee $2.50); No reservation needed.

February 8: February Valentine’s Gnome Painting Party!

Paint an adorable gnome on canvas with conversation heart balloons at this home studio. Ages: All; Cost: $10 cash or check due at event. To register, message or comment on the FB event page with the number of painters. These parties can fill up quick!

February 10: Lego Night

The Well Community Center, 554 Pit Road, Brownsburg, IN 46112

Join Snapology Indy-West at this open house event. Many build opportunities will be available, including Minifigure race cars, earthquake towers, and Anna and Elsa castles. There will also be Junior Scientists kits, and information on upcoming classes. For the younger kids you can also check out The Well Community Center’s free indoor play area  while there. Ages: 3 – 99; Cost: Free; Registration is not needed.

February 15: Kingsway Parent Night Out

5 pm to 9 pm
The Flip Zone, 880 Andico Road, Plainfield, IN 46168

My kids have been to a few of these, and they get worn out! Play in the gym, including swinging on a Tarzan rope and landing in the foam pit. There is also a bounce house and a pizza dinner! Benefits Kingsway Christian Church. Ages: 3 – 16; Cost: $25 first child; $10 second child; $5 each additional child; Registration.

February 19: Game Night

Bring your friends, family and neighbors! Available games include: Ticket to Ride, Codenames, Cosmic Encounter, Sequence, Likewise!, Password, Qwirkle and others – or bring your own to play! This is a great way to get to know others in the community. Drinks and snacks also available. Ages: All; Cost Free; No registration required. *This event also occurs on 3/18 and 4/15

February 22: Hedgehog Hannah

If your kid loves shows like Wild Kratts, this is for them! See and touch exotic creatures during this exciting show. Guests include a macaw, a fox, a snake, and other mammals!  Reptiles will also be there – an alligator, a chameleon, a tortoise and a tarantula.  Ages: All; Cost: Free; No registration required.

February 22: 10th Annual Father Daughter Dance – Princess Ball 2020

5 pm to 8 pm
Washington Township Park Pavilion, 435 Whipple Lane, Avon, IN, 46123

Come out for some Dad & Daughter time (all Special Adults welcome)! There will be Disney Princesses from Courage and Kindness, dancing with music from a live DJ, dinner and a silent auction. Corsages and digital pictures will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit Project A.n.g.e.l.  Ages: All; Cost: $40 for one adult plus one daughter, with additional daughters $10 each; Purchase tickets through February 14th.

February 23: Drug Free Family Night 2020

3 pm to 5 pm
Brownsburg Bowl, 18 Whittington Drive, Brownsburg, Indiana 46112

Bring your family out for some bowling fun, compliments of The Hendricks County Substance Abuse Task Force. Each person will get to play two free games with free shoe rental. There will also be raffle prizes, and local providers will be on hand for questions. Ages: All; Cost: Free; No Registration required.

February 29: It’s Leap Day at the Library!

1 pm to 2:30 pm

Have you ever thought about what your family will be like in the future? Come in on Leap Day and make a take-home time capsule to open in 2024! Put in pictures, stories from this year, prices of essentials, predictions – anything that will have a special meaning. This could become an awesome family tradition! You can also enjoy games and a scavenger hunt. Ages: 6 – 10; Cost: Free; Registration opens on February 15, 2020.
