Our family tends to eat at the same places when we go out — we don’t venture far from what we’re comfortable with or far from the kids eat free opportunities. Every now and then we try to work in a new restaurant and a new type of food.
One of my favorite ways to try a new cuisine is somewhere that has a buffet — it’s the best way for any age to try a new type of food, especially if it’s completely unfamiliar to you.
The Amber Indian in Carmel offers a delicious lunchtime buffet that features most of their menu items. The first time I tried Indian food was at the Amber Indiana and I took a small scoop of each item for the kids (and me too!). We loved EVERYTHING! Seriously, I think I like Indian food almost as much as I like Mexican food!
Another type of food that we’ve been trying to introduce to our kids is sushi. I dream of having children who can proficiently eat with chopsticks and enjoy trying new things. I’m not saying that I’m the best example of either of these things, but I’m trying! Our favorite place to take the kids to try sushi is Ichiban on the south side of Indy. Many of their rolls are available for half price on Mondays from 5pm-7pm. BEST time to try but get there early, it’s a very popular night!
One of the best and more affordable buffets in town is Tucanos Brazilian Grill. We love the endless portions of different types of meat and the salad bar is full of delicious new things to try!
