Adult Dinners at Fair Oaks Farms | Corn Infused Menu & Distillery Pairings

Fair Oaks Farms is one of those places that encourages guests to reconnect with the land by learning about modern farming. The best way to learn about the food our families eat and where it comes from is from the people who grow it.

Fair Oaks Farms is hosting a Farmer’s Dinner Series in August and September with the Indiana Corn Marketing Council and Old 55 Distillery. My husband and I made an overnight getaway of the occasion and I’m here to tell you that it was incredible!

I was hosted by the Indiana Corn Marketing Council for the purpose of sharing this event with you.

Farmer’s Dinner Series at Fair Oaks Farms

The Farmer’s Dinner Series will take place Friday, August 20 and Friday, September 17, 2021 at 6pm. Tickets are available for sale online.

Dinner Guests will be seated in The Garden, surrounded by crops and flowering plants. Long tables set for the occasion twinkle with candles and lights. In the event of rain (and rain it did during our visit), dinner will be moved beneath the strung lights in the gorgeous Crop Adventure building.

During guest arrival, a cash bar is available, serving cocktails, beer and wine. Attendees can peruse the area as passed appetizers make their way around. During our visit, we were treated to mini crunchy corn chip shell tacos and corn risotto balls (so delicious.)

The dinner table is set for all to gather together and get to know one another or chat with the group they bring along. Multiple forks show that this dinner isn’t for the weak — it’s a four course meal, fit for any Hoosier. The menu during our visit started with Confit Pork Belly with a ricotta cheese corn tamale plated with algarrobina syrup. Each course is introduced by the chef who created the dish, leaving you feeling like the indulgent judge of a cooking show like Chopped or Master Chef. You’ll even hear from Indiana Corn Farmers who work hard to grow food for animals and people in Indiana.

Food isn’t the only farm to table fare you’ll relish in. Old 55 Distillery has paired their midwestern whiskey and bourbon with each delectable dish. You’ll savor a selection of whiskey cocktails and sample Bottle in Bond Single Barrel Bourbon (currently the #2 bourbon in the world) and one of the only Sweet Corn Bourbons.

While your dinner menu might look different at the August and September dinners, I just need to tell you about our final three courses, I’m certain yours will be equally amazing! The second course was Halibut in a corn broth with Chile-poblano grains. The third course was grilled ribeye with sweet corn puree plated with guajillo sauce and aji amarillo gel. The final course was corn infused vanilla bean ice cream with a corn-caramel sauce.
