Distelrath Farms Early Learning Program

DF is a small, farm-based private school which families use to supplement their home-schooling curriculum. While most of our students attend 2-3 days per week, about 1/3 attend full-time. Our mission at Distelrath Farms is to develop self-reliant, lifelong learners by facilitating an agriculturally-immersive, holistic educational space.

That means we operate a school on a farm.

More specifically, we use the teachable moments and practical skills inherent in running a farm to guide children to be independent, curious, and world-wise. We leave behind rote memorization and standardized testing in favor of a more personalized education, where our students are constantly challenged to apply what they learn to everyday situations.

There is never a dull moment at Distelrath. In addition to the ever-present potential for exploration and play, our schedule and curriculum evolves around the daily operations of the farm. While the older students (7-16) do the heavy lifting for our various farm projects, Littles (3-5) actively participate in and learn from those very same projects. From beekeeping to construction; art class to cooking…our students interact with the world in fascinating ways!

Contact us at DistelrathFarms@gmail.com to learn more.

Upcoming Open Houses:
Tuesday, Feb 21; Wednesday Feb 22
10-11:30 am
Prospective students may participate in classes while parents tour and attend a Q&A.

LegacyChristianSchool_468x90

We are a non-denominational Christian Preschool with programs for children 3 to 5 years old. Our school building houses Preschool, Elementary, Middle and High School and is located in Noblesville.  Our focus is on teaching character development and helping your child meet developmental benchmarks in education.  We believe that children learn as they play and when actively engaged.  We offer a balance of teacher-directed and child-initiated activities.  We also provide a loving Christian environment where God’s love is not only the basis of our teaching, but is also modeled by our teachers and all those associated with our program.

LCS offers a variety of programs and choices of days with hours being either 9:00-1:00 or 9:00-3:00 pm.  All students eat lunch at school but full-day students also receive a variety of special classes during the afternoon.  These classes include PE, Art and Library Buddies depending on the day they attend.  Programs offered include Jumpstart 3 (young 3’s), 3/4 year old, 4/5 Pre-Kindergarten, and the 5+(older preschooler) classes.

Contact us to schedule a tour!  One of the best ways to see what we are all about is to visit our campus.  We look forward to showing you our facility and answering any questions you may have.  Children are invited to come with their parents on visits and we are never surprised when they want to join in the classroom activities!  Sit in on circle time, explore classroom manipulatives, play with Play-Doh, do an art project – stay for as long as you’d like!

[divider] [/divider] The Orchard School

OrchardNew

The Orchard School celebrates “Nature As Teacher” and new international research shows countless benefits for children who attend schools that feature lots of green spaces and natural scenery.

“The kids where there was more green around the school, we saw better cognitive development,” said Mark Nieuwenhuijsen, a researcher with the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology in Barcelona and one of the study’s authors. [The study is published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.]

The Orchard School has long realized the importance of extending learning beyond a building. Orchard’s 42.9 acres serve as an outdoor classroom. For example, first graders tap trees every winter and make maple syrup. Through hands-on learning, students make connections between botany, cooking, local food economics, history and biochemistry.
Teachers at The Orchard School are experts when it comes to engaging students and fostering a love of learning. Orchard’s rich history goes back more than 90 years, when nine Indianapolis women put into practice the philosophy of John Dewey. Dewey was rebuffing a system where kids were seen as empty vessels, ready to be filled by teachers who possessed all the knowledge. The nine women wanted children to be actively engaged in the learning process. Those insightful women founded The Orchard School in 1922.
A current Orchard parent says, “In a test-driven, memorization of facts society, Orchard is a breath of fresh air, promoting innovation, creativity and application of knowledge.”
The Orchard School is located at 615 W. 64th Street, near Holliday Park.

[divider] [/divider] Day Early Learning Indiana

USE THIS

Day Early Learning is your best choice for childcare and early education.  For more than 100 years, Day Early Learning was known as Day Nursery. Under that name, we spent more than a century building a reputation as Central Indiana’s standard-bearer for excellent child care.  Today in our Day Early Learning centers,  we continue our tradition as the area’s best source for child care services and resources.   Early education is a critical part of young children’s development and research shows it not only prepares children for kindergarten, but for a successful future of life-long learning. Our program’s major focus is the development of the individual child and we take an activity-based approach to preparing kids for kindergarten.

At Day Early Learning Centers, children are surrounded with vibrant classrooms and enriching curriculum enhancements using the philosophy of child-centered learning into daily activities and interactive arts education experiences. We also offer preschool lending libraries and engaging mind and body fitness programs like ballet and martial arts. Children who have exposure to an exciting array of inspiring experiences become passionate learners as they grow older.  We also take a holistic approach to ensure a child’s complete development by providing nutritious meals, health and immunization clinics, vision screening and referrals, dental clinics, early identification of special needs, and coordination with intervention specialists. We enroll children ages six weeks through six years in our 10 Day Early Learning centers and offer financial assistance for eligible families.  We also accept CCDF vouchers and are the state’s largest participant in the On My Way Pre-K program.  Our centers are open year-round with extended hours to support working families.   Please visit our website to learn more www.dayearlylearning.org or call our enrollment hotline at (317) 687-3541.  Follow us on Facebook (facebook.com/DayEarlyLearning) and Twitter (@EarlyLearningIN).
