This week, we spent a few hours kicking off our back to school shopping at Edinburgh Premium Outlets. I love how close everything is. With four pairs of little legs in tow, getting from store to store is quite the challenge if everything is too far apart.

Since it’s so hot out still, it was so tempting to only think about school clothes for the next couple of months — the warmer months. However, cool weather is coming soon and those strappy sandals won’t really do well with windchill or snow, so we shopped with layering in mind. My goal was to find stylish clothing that would outlast any trends or weather and be able to transition well into the next season.

Of course I did make a few exceptions (like this adorable outfit on clearance at Janie & Jack) because I know that with 3 little girls, there’s never going to be an outfit wasted as long as we’re conscious of the sizes we buy.

My kids loved the feeling of independence and being able to select their own school clothes for the first time. I loved that we could try everything on in store before committing to buying. My kids loved seeing new patterns and styles that they’ve never worn. I loved saving a ton of money over shopping online or paying full retail! The racks and racks of colorful clothing (like these ones at Gap Kids) were so fun for the kids to look through.

I don’t know if my kids had a favorite store but I do know that finding that she finally fit into the sizes offered at Justice was a HUGE joy factor for my six year old.

My husband was pleased with our haul and I’m pleased that I still have children little enough that I get to shop at The Children’s Place and Carters.

Shopped. Dropped. Home in under an hour. @edinburghpo @shopsimon #back2school #backtoschool

There are so many other stores at Edinburgh Premium Outlets. I wish that my kids had the stamina to shop even longer! We’ll be back for a few more things that we didn’t purchase yet…winter coats (Columbia, we’re looking at you!), clothes for me to wear to meet the teacher night… It’s a good thing that the Edinburgh Premium Outlets are only about 45 minutes away, straight down I-65.

It should be noted that there are plenty of places to eat as well. Pro Tip: Shop on Tuesday because it’s Kids Eat Free day at Max & Ermas!
