Things for Kids to do at Ritchey Woods
My son really enjoys taking his butterfly net and insect container to play ‘Explorer’ at Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve. The woods become his natural playground! No need for swings and slides, when you have several trails and wildlife to discover throughout the preserve! My family usually packs a picnic to take along as there are several designated picnic areas and shelters throughout the preserve. We usually plan a nature scavenger hunt to do as a family on our hikes along the trails. During one of our last visits to Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve, we spotted several deer, woodpeckers and squirrels, and butterflies throughout our hike! All the wildlife sightings made for an exciting scavenger hunt! Here are ideas to create your own nature scavenger hunt!
