It’s finally here — the downtown Indianapolis ice skating rink that we’ve all been waiting for! In so many major cities our family has visited during our travels and road trips, we’ve been envious of the fabulous ice skating rinks in their downtown areas. Now it’s our turn to see our beautiful city glittering with ice as downtown becomes a “cool” spot to hang out during the winter months.
Ice skating at the Elevance Health Rink on Bicentennial Unity Plaza at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis is so much fun! The brand-new plaza is a delightful blend of recreation, art, and community spirit. A relatively new addition adjacent to the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Unity Plaza has quickly become a hub for public gatherings and artistic expression. During the winter months, this space transforms into an NHL-sized ice-skating rink, offering a fun winter activity for residents and visitors alike.
The Elevance Health Rink is now open and marks the beginning of a new winter tradition in Indianapolis. Operating from Friday, November 22 until Sunday, January 26, 2025, this rink is in the heart of downtown Indianapolis with quick access to restaurants and other entertainment venues. The creation of this rink is part of a broader initiative, celebrating 200 years of unity in the area. The plaza itself is a testament to this spirit, functioning as a public space that showcases art and provides a space to meet up and enjoy the city.
