Get those wiggles out! If your little one wants to jump, twist, balance, reach, stretch, laugh, wiggle, and learn all at the same time, Wright’s Gymnastics and Ninja Zone is the place that meets all of your requirements.
Wright’s Gymnastics Southeast Location
I took my two children, aged 10 and 5, to visit the Southeast location in Greenwood for FUNtimes open gymnastics. This location, one of two in Greenwood, has ample parking for visitors. You’ll also conveniently find one large bathroom with baby-changing facilities and a spacious seating area in front of two large windows to watch little ones play.
And play they will! FUNtimes at Wright’s Gymnastics is pure unstructured playtime!
Burn Some Energy Through Open Play at FUNtimes
Immediately as you arrive, you’ll see the ninja course with unstable monkey bars and big climbing elements, which really encourage independent play, development, and confidence building. Elsewhere, there is a huge variety of bars, thinner bars for Pre-K, moving all the way up to standard-size bars. My 10-year-old had no trouble working on the big bars, whereas my 5-year-old could easily play too. No gymnastics center is complete without balance beams, and again, there are short ones and high ones for the real daredevils!
What is really great about the play space is the open area where no objects are fixed down and can easily be moved around to create an area that can be used solely for tumbling. Nothing to test the imagination is off limits. While there, I observed numerous obstacle courses being built by both adults and children. Friends began games of tag, hide and seek, and challenging each other to see who could bounce the highest, balance the longest, or complete the ninja course quickest.
There is always a Wright’s coach at each of the FUNtimes sessions to answer questions, but also to help and tutor the budding athletes with their skills.
Wright’s Gymnastics and Ninja Zone has five different locations, each offering something slightly different from the others. For FUNtimes open gym sessions, each place has its own schedule to accommodate for varying class times. The Southeast location in Greenwood has FUNtimes on Thursdays at 12 pm and 4 pm, at the time of publishing. Please note that these times are subject to change and are usually set one month in advance. We highly advise checking the Wright’s website before you head to the gym.
FUNtimes costs $16 a session or one free session for active members (those enrolled in classes or a competitive team). There is no limit to how many open gyms your child can take part in! You are encouraged to bring a bottle of water, but please place this on the table inside or in a cubby in the lobby, rather than bringing it into the gym. Should you happen to forget your water, Wright’s also has a water fountain.
FUNtimes is for children under 15, though the Greenwood location is especially good for preschoolers. This location also offers Preschool tumbling classes, which are located up the red staircase on the second floor.
Camps at Wright’s
If your children love FUNtimes, then they will love the camps Wright’s holds throughout the year! Camps are offered for 8 weeks during summer vacation, as well as during fall break and
for another week during winter vacation. Children can attend half-day or whole-day camps. Activities vary each week, allowing kids to explore various gymnastics circuits, NinjaZone, crafts, group activities, water games, and more. Your child does not have to be an experienced ninja or gymnast to participate. You can see a full listing of each location’s camps — including dates, times, and themes — on the Wright’s Gymnastics website.
Kids’ Night Out
Wrights also offers little athletes and their parents opportunities for “Kids’ Night Out.” These are monthly, themed nights throughout the year, held at each of the Wright’s locations except the Academy. For example, summer and fall 2025 themes include State Fair, Blaster and Bingo, and Fright Night for Halloween fun! Children between the ages 3-13 (must be potty trained) are welcome for 3 hours (6-9 pm) for crafts, fun activities, and playtime! Participants are asked to bring their own bottle of water. Pizza will be provided whilst parents get time for themselves.
If your child still hasn’t had their fill of learning gymnastics from the camps, open gyms, and Kids Night Out, then you can always enroll them in one of Wright’s many weekly gymnastic lessons.
Wright Gymnastics has so much to offer all ages, abilities, and desires. As a bonus — after an afternoon at FUNtimes or gymnastics class, we can almost guarantee an early bedtime for both kids and parents!
