The kids and I attended the restoration celebration of Holliday Park’s Ruins this past weekend and it was so much fun! Everyone was there from food truck vendors to the Mayor. This structure at Holliday Park has been neglected for years, and the Rock the Ruins event was definitely a celebration worth having because of the restoration project! Indy Parks and Recreation have created an amazing experience for park-goers and you all HAVE to check it out today!
What was the best part of the ruins? My kids LOVED the Shimmer Fountain and Water Table — think splash pad meets reflection pool. When it was finally time to go, I had to explain to the kids that we could come back some other time because they just didn’t want to leave.
The ruins, once beautiful pieces or art had fallen into disrepair, are now restored and absolutely unique and gorgeous. The Ruins have been roped off for over 20 years and they were definitely a sight for sore eyes when it came to this beautiful 95 acre park.
Holliday Park now also includes a GORGEOUS garden that greets park-goers, with beautiful trees lining the path from the Ruins to the Rain Garden. Fountains, benches, and more adorn the land. The once run-down and unique art at the park will now greet Indy residents and visitors with a beauty all it’s own for generations to come.

- Pack a picnic and enjoy the grounds for an extended amount of time.
- Cost: FREE all year round!
- Why: It’s beautiful, and the kids will LOVE it!
- Bring a change of clothes and a towel.
