IRT’s A Christmas Carol Indianapolis Tradition
Take your family to see A Christmas Carol on stage at the Indianapolis Repertory Theatre, November 16 – December 24, 2024. As a general reminder for families, A Christmas Carol is recommended for patrons in 3rd grade and above. Due to content and length, productions are unsuitable for children under 4 years of age, and the IRT’s policy is that children under 4 are not permitted in the Theatre.
A Heartwarming Christmas Classic
The inspiring tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and his journey from life as a miserly penny-pincher to a humbled, yet joyful man, ready to live a generous, grateful life, is one worth telling year after year. Charles Dickens’ beloved, heartwarming holiday story was originally published in 1843 and continues to move readers and theater-goers alike to this day.
If you have yet to introduce your child to the timeless classic for the first time, take advantage of this opportunity to see a quality production in a beautiful, historic location in Indianapolis. You may just find your family returning to the Indiana Repertory Theater over and over during the holidays for years to come.
A Great Performance in a Grand Setting
You don’t even have to step inside the Indiana Repertory Theater on Washington Street to appreciate the beauty of the building. Constructed in 1927 as a movie palace and ballroom, the intricately designed building transports visitors back in time and emits an aura of grandeur. The interior features delicate woodcarvings, a sweeping staircase, and handpainted murals.
Even if you are seated on the main level of the auditorium when you attend A Christmas Carol, don’t miss a walk around the second-story balcony. The perimeter of this level is lined with costumes, reference materials, and photos from previous shows throughout the years. Children and adults alike can develop a deeper appreciation for the creativity and dedication to craft, historical accuracy, and artistic expression that goes into every performance at the IRT.
