Rows of baby trees, native to Indiana, planted to create a space of beauty and learning for Indiana residents and visitors. A curvy story walk was added along a mulched path dotted with displays that feature pages from a children’s book. Children can work with their parents to read the book as they walk along the path. Our recent walk took us through the story of two worms who learned to share and fell in love. At each station, there are conversation starters or quick activities. The conversation starters had us singing, pointing out shapes in nature, rhyming, counting and discussing fear.
I look forward to visiting the Urban Forest Story Trail during different seasons and as the trees grow taller and bigger.
