McCordsville is soon-to-be a fast growing town. With so many new businesses coming, new homes being built, and the local schools expanding, I’m certain this list will be changing soon as McCordsville continues to expand. For now, here are some ideas to keep your kids busy while in town.
Community Park
6280 W. 800 N.
Located next to the McCordsville Town Hall, this park has a nice covered picnic pavilion, a large open grassy area to play sports, and a little free library box. Bring your soccer and baseball equipment to get in some practice, or play an old school games, like freeze tag.
Daniels Vineyard
9061 N. 700 W.
Nestled among the grape vines, Daniels Vineyard is the perfect place to listen to live music, eat pizza and sample new wines. Children and pets are welcome at this venue. They have plenty of room to host events throughout the year and have some pretty neat offerings, so check out their calendar for more details.
McCordsville Barber Shop
7745 N. 600 W.
Now you may ask why I listed a barber shop on this list, well…. it’s a barber shop inside a Caboose. (Yes, you read that right.) What little train enthusiast wouldn’t love to get their hair cut there? Bonus, there is a double decker bus and some fun statues out front. You will definitely want to see them and snap a photo, while you’re at it.
Abloomin Nursery
12345 Pendleton Pike
While you shop for flowers, your kids can see a caboose at the Garden Center. Yes, an authentic caboose, and they have gorgeous hanging baskets during the Summer months. This location is fun for the whole family.
Train Watching
6939 W. Broadway
Yes, there is a busy CSX train track that runs through McCordsville. When my son was going through his Thomas the Tank Engine phase, he would love to count the number of engines and cars that would barrel down the track. A great place to view the train safely is the Meijer Parking lot. Park out by the edge and you will have a great view. (Bonus: There is a Starbucks inside the Meijer, so you can pick up a treat for yourself.)
Old School Park
Off of County Road 600 W. (Mt. Comfort Road)
Old School Park features a nice picnic shelter with playground equipment and swings. There is a small parking lot on the western edge of the park, but no restrooms. There are also tennis courts, so bring your equipment, pack a lunch, and make a day of it
McCordsville Sports Park
5450 IN Highway 67
McCordsville Sports Park has outdoor soccer fields, open from dawn to dusk, and conveniently located right off of Hwy 67. This is where Geist Soccer & Indy Premier Soccer League play, and a great spot for your littles to practice the skills of the sport.
McCordsville Wellness Center
8505 N. Clearview Drive
Join a gym that both you and your kids will enjoy! The McCordsville Wellness Center has a variety of classes and equipment available for adults. It also offers Kids Fit, which offers kids Zumba and cardio, as well as indoor play area.
Scarlett Lane Brewing
7724 Depot Street
While the brewery is not for kids, mom and dad might like to check it out, and they host some events that might interest the family. They have pop up shops, and this Summer they are hosting a farmers market.
Community Events
McCordsville is starting to host some community events like a Trunk-or-Treat, Easter Drive Thru, Car show, and more. You can check their towns website or Facebook page for details.
