My kids needed to eat in a trolley car inside a restaurant like they needed to breathe air. Or so you would think! Once we found out that the kid-friendly restaurant, Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown Indianapolis has a trolley car, they begged to visit. We’re all big Daniel Tiger fans in our house, so the idea of seeing “Trolley” and getting to eat spaghetti inside, was a big deal. We visited and had dinner in the trolley car the same weekend we slept in the train car hotel room in Indy! It’s a short walk from that hotel to the Spaghetti Factory.
Sitting Inside the Trolley Car
We called ahead to make a reservation but you could not specifically reserve seating in the trolley car. Your best bet is to let them know when you arrive that you’d like to wait for a seat inside the trolley. Families or groups larger than 4 will have to be split up, as the tables on one side only fit four people and the ones on the other side only seat two people. It’s a crowded space with narrow isles but it’s worth the visit!
Even if you’re visiting an Old Spaghetti Factory location elsewhere in the country, you should see an old fashioned trolley car available to sit in, it’s a Spaghetti Factory tradition.
Children’s Menu at Spaghetti Factory
Both child entrees and regular menu entrees are all served as three course meals. For the first course, kids can choose apple sauce or salad. Entree selections include: Spinach Tortellini with Alfredo Sauce, Fettuccine Alfredo, Spinach and Cheese Ravioli, Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Spaghetti with Marinara or Meat Sauce, Spaghetti with Mizithra Cheese & Browned Butter, Macaroni and Cheese or Meaty Mac and Cheesy. Afterwards, everyone is served the world famous Old Spaghetti Factory spumoni or vanilla ice cream.
Children’s beverage choices range from fountain drinks to special milkshakes, Italian Cream Soda to Cotton Candy Limeade. There might be as many fun children’s beverages as there are adult beverages!
Kids can sign up for the Spaghetti Factory Birthday club and get a free meal on their birthday and a special treat on their half birthday! There’s even a special Factory Family club for adults, where you too can earn birthday freebies.
If you or your child have special dietary needs or restrictions, check out the common allergen menu information. They even have gluten friendly versions of some of their best entrees.
Parking at the Old Spaghetti Factory
There is not a designated parking lot for the OSF but there are many nearby lots as well as metered street parking. Circle Center Mall has a parking garage across the street that offers parking for a reasonable rate.
If you’re looking for a special place to throw a trolley themed birthday party, Old Spaghetti Factory would be a hit! I’ve also attended wedding showers and bridal showers here in their private room.
Kids who love trains, will also love all of these Indianapolis train activities.
