Being pregnant is awkward. Always. I can’t really think of a situation where it isn’t. Well, maybe at a…nope. Can’t think of one.
Even though this is my third go at it, I’m still doing the weirdest, most awkward things that later make me smack my forehead and just say, “Oh.My.Gosh.”
My doctor is out of town this week so he has me seeing another doctor in his practice. I’m at the point in my pregnancy where they check to see how dilated I am every week. Generally they leave me with a sheet and say, “He’ll be in here in just a moment.” and then I climb out of my clothes, wrap that sheet around my body and sit on the exam table…for a while. Yeah, thanks for that sheet.
Today, I saw a substitute doctor and she said, “Let’s check that baby!”
It wasn’t the normal sequence of events but I know that different people do things differently. So, I stripped down and sat on the table. Nekked. From the waist down. I looked up at her and she was staring at me curiously.
“I was just going to listen to her heartbeat.”
If you haven’t heard, I’m going to have a baby next week! I am officially on bed rest as of now and boy do I need it. Just lifting my fingers to type this article is exhausting!
