Cheer on the Colts with Your Friends

My favorite time of year is football season, and with a team like the Indianapolis Colts to root for, it’s easy to fall in love with the sport. Every year, my friends and I go to cheer on the Colts at our beautiful stadium downtown. It is such an awesome way to laugh and connect. We have so many fun memories from Colts games, and I am excited to share my tips and tricks for having the best day out with your friends and the Indianapolis Colts.

Planning Ahead for Your Colts Game Mom’s Night Out

Clear Bag Policy

Game day with the girls is so much fun but plan ahead to take any stress out of the equation. Make sure to leave your purse at home, and only bring a small clear bag if you want something to carry a wallet. Lucas Oil Stadium does not allow purses or bags you cannot see through. This was a rookie mistake I made, so learn from me and grab a stadium-friendly clear bag beforehand. I reuse it for all sporting events, and as a bonus, it’s waterproof!

Don't forget to bring a clear bag to the stadium on your Colts game Mom's Night Out.

Parking Options

Next, you definitely want to have cash for parking. The parking around the stadium can be chaotic at times, so head downtown early and give yourself plenty of time to park. Carpooling with your girlfriends will be cost-effective and convenient for staying together, as there are multiple entrances to the stadium. We find that the lots and garages closest to the stadium charge $30-$40, and are usually cash only, so that is something to consider and plan for. If you are up for a 10-15 minute walk, you can find street parking for less when you park further away.

Dress for the Weather

The Colts stadium has a retractable roof, so sometimes games are temperature-controlled, and other days you might enjoy the game in the open air. Make sure to check for this information on game day, and plan your outfit accordingly. The Colts always post the decision on the morning of the game on social media. I like to bring a Colts zip-up jacket when the roof is open because sometimes those beautiful fall days can get a bit crisp, especially if your seating section is in the shade.

While we’re considering clothing, don’t forget to show your team spirit! The Colts have a fantastic Pro Shop stuffed with all the blue, white, and horseshoe-embellished gear you could want for the game. Whether you’re looking for accessories, a cozy sweatshirt, cute tees and tops, or a jersey representing your favorite player, you’ll find it here! The shop is conveniently attached to Lucas Oil Stadium, so you can easily grab an outfit pregame and even change there. Gather your girlfriends and shop ‘til you drop for all things Colts in this huge shop.

Game Day Fun for Your Colts Game Mom’s Night Out

When you get to the stadium, time flies with all of the game-day excitement, entertainment, and activities. Touchdown Town is located right outside of Lucas Oil Stadium and is chock full of fun game day entertainment. You will find live performances, food trunks, and giveaways right outside the stadium before each home game.

Don’t forget about the Colts-themed drink specials! You have to try the Blue Crew Shaker and the Horseshoe Mule! Touchdown Town is located outside the north entrance of Lucas Oil Stadium, is totally free, and open to the public. I recommend arriving at least 3 hours before kickoff to give yourself ample time to park and enjoy the activities with your girlfriends.

Even if you aren’t a huge football fan, the Colts community and game-day excitement will have you coming back for more games and memories with your friends. We have converted several friends into football lovers over the years, and it all started at Colts games.

I love watching the games anywhere, but nothing beats the stadium experience. In addition to the game itself, you have pregame entertainment, the cheerleaders, and half-time entertainment to enjoy. Cheer on the Colts while watching Blue and his crazy antics, as well as the cheerleaders’ impressive dance routines. My friends and I love to come early and stay late on a Colts game Mom’s Night Out to really enjoy the atmosphere and chat with other fans.

Concessions and Drinks

Make sure to come hungry, because there are so many food options available on game day. My personal favorite is Ben’s Soft Pretzels, but there are dozens of selections spread out in the different concession booths.

If you enjoy an adult beverage, the stadium has a full bar at the Bud Light Party Zone. You can purchase awesome mixed drinks, in addition to beer and wine offerings. There is also a great viewing area of the field, with giant windows that overlook the city. You can hang out and enjoy food and drinks here without missing a minute of the game! If you are looking for specific snacks or beverages at the game, go to the Colts’ website to find a list of each concession stand’s offerings.

You and your girlfriends may have a new annual tradition after a day out at Lucas Oil Stadium. Enjoy your friends and football, and make memories cheering and laughing together. Nothing beats a Colts game Mom’s Night Out. Go Colts!
