Celebrate the spirit of Hanukkah at the Athenaeum Christkindlmarkt with a family-friendly afternoon of music, storytelling, and traditional treats. This special event honors Jewish history and culture with programming that welcomes everyone to learn, listen, and celebrate together.

Guests will enjoy a live performance by the Shawn Royer Quartet, festive holiday activities designed for families, and delicious sweet treats inspired by Hanukkah traditions. Kids can take part in hands-on crafts and learn about the symbols of the season—from the menorah and dreidel to the story behind the Festival of Lights.

Hanukkah, meaning “dedication,” commemorates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and the miracle of the oil that burned for eight days. Today, families celebrate by lighting menorahs, sharing stories, and enjoying foods cooked in oil—like crispy latkes and jelly-filled sufganiyot.

Cost: Free admission
Perfect for: Families, children, and anyone interested in learning about Hanukkah traditions
