As if Indianapolis winter celebrations don’t already look like they jumped right out of a Hallmark movie, have you heard about the outdoor ice skating rink at Holliday Park in Indianapolis? It’s back for another year, bringing wintery magic to this beloved north-side park!
Opening day for the 2025 – 2026 season is November 28, 2025! The Ice Rink at Holliday Park closes on March 1, 2026.
Holliday Park Ice Skating
Indianapolis’ Holliday Park is a real treasure throughout the year, but the cooler months are a family favorite. The Holliday Park Ice Rink is a real ice rink, not a synthetic version. You can find it on the lawn at the Holliday Park Nature Center. Your family can skate from Thanksgiving weekend through the beginning of March, similar to other local ice skating opportunities, like the Christkindlmarkt in Carmel.
Ice skate rental is available on-site, or you can bring your own skates. The rental facilities take over several of the classroom spaces inside the Nature Center and are conveniently located near the restrooms.
Ice Skating at Holliday Park Admission
Tickets for ice skating at Holliday Park are $14 for ages five and up. Ticket fees include ice skate rental. Children aged four and under are free. On Fridays, students get half off the 7-8:30 pm session!
Tickets are available online and in person, but reservations are recommended.
Does your family LOVE ice skating? Consider purchasing a season pass for $150 per person.
Food & Drinks at Holliday Park
MASHCraft is back this season as the rink’s food and beverage partner, and honestly, it’s such a fun addition for families. You’ll find classic rink snacks, new menu favorites, and even elevated options for parents who want something a little special. Beer and wine are available for guests 21 and older, and concessions are open Friday through Sunday and during special events. It’s the perfect way to warm up after a few loops around the ice or to enjoy a cozy break while your kids skate.
Ice Skating Lessons
If your children want to build confidence on the ice, Holliday Park is offering Learn to Skate lessons through the Winter Club of Indianapolis. These sessions are designed for a wide range of ages and skill levels, so everyone from wobbly beginners to more practiced skaters can benefit. Lessons take place on Mondays from 6 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m., with lessons purchased directly through Winter Club.
Youth Ice Hockey in Indianapolis
Families with hockey lovers will find something exciting this year, too. Free, drop-in hockey lessons with Our Hockey House take place on Thursday evenings from 5 to 9 p.m. starting January 8, 2026. Older kids and adults can also rent the rink for 3-on-3 hockey games on Tuesday nights at 7:30 p.m. Each session accommodates the first 20 players at $25 per person, and participants bring their own equipment.
Ice Skating Outdoors at Holliday Park
The Ice Rink is also offering wonderful opportunities for local schools. Field trips, PTO fundraisers, sports team outings, and homeschool skate sessions are all available. Students can enjoy half-price Fridays during the 7 to 8:30 p.m. session with any student ID, and homeschoolers can skate on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It’s such a fun way for kids to get moving and enjoy some winter magic together.
New this season, Holliday Park is hosting the only outdoor CCA Sports Curling League in Indianapolis. Beginning in January, teams can join a weekly recreational 4-on-4 league. If your family loves trying something new or watching curling during the Olympics, this could be a great winter adventure.
The rink has a full calendar of special events, too. Opening Day kicks off on Black Friday, November 28, and you’ll find festive favorites like the Winter Solstice Skate with Santa on December 21, half-price skating on MLK Day and President’s Day, Valentine’s Day Skate on February 14, Winter Olympics watch parties, and half-price student nights every Friday. There’s truly something happening all season long.
If you’re planning a celebration, private rink rentals are available for $400 per hour, with the option to add MASHCraft food and drink service. Skate rentals are included. You can even host birthday parties during public skate hours. For $17 per skater (with a minimum of 10), each guest receives admission, skate rental, and a $10 concessions voucher to enjoy snacks and drinks. It’s a winter birthday dream come true.
