7 Things to Do This Weekend Near Indianapolis

It’s that time of year in Indiana when you need your winter coat one day, shorts and tees the next, and back to pants and coats the day after that.

If the weather is warmer and you want to spend some time outdoors, there are a few Saint Patrick’s Day events and parades in the area this weekend. Everyone is Irish on March 17!

Many Central Indiana school districts started Spring break this week. If your family is staying in the area you can have loads of fun. Check out these indoor play places or one of our favorite wintertime parksThe Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience Sports Park opens for the season this weekend so schedule a visit there too.

7 Things to Do This Weekend

42nd Annual Indy St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Indy St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place on Friday, March 15 beginning at 11:30 am. The parade is typically made up of Irish-themed floats, bands, dancers, school kids, and local Irish organizations and companies. The parade starts at North and Pennsylvania Streets, heads south to Ohio Street, and then back North on Meridian Street. Get downtown early to find your spot!

St. Patrick’s Day Tent Party

Join our friends at Daniel’s Vineyard for the most epic St. Patrick’s Day tent party! Live music from local artists from noon-3 pm and a rocking show from The Toy Factory 4-7 pm. They’ll have live music, photo ops, green wine & beer, a full bar, and food specials. Food & Beverage is NOT included in the ticket and is sold separately. Tickets are only $20 each.

Parents Night Out | KidStrong

At Parent’s Night Out, your child will have a blast while learning with their peers and getting tons of physical activity. The KidStrong coaches will be reinforcing important skills like confidence, teamwork, physical fitness, social skills, good sportsmanship, and more!

Parents Night Out fee will include dinner for all kids that register. Parents Night Out is for kids 4-11 years old. Members and Non-members are welcome. Payment is due at the time of registration.

Pop Up Beekeeping

Did you know? There are over 20,000 species of wild bees, and 1 out of 6 of these bees are already regionally extinct. In fact, 40% of all bee species are vulnerable to extinction.

Learn about beekeeping during this education session at the AgriPark. No registration is required for this program. Head to the Fishers AgriPark on Saturday, March 16 from 2-3:30 pm.

Dive-In Movie at Fort Ben

Join the Fort Ben YMCA crew for a movie night at the Indoor Rec Pool!
The movie, Chang Can Dunk, begins at 6 pm. It is FREE to attend, but a $5 donation to the Annual Campaign is appreciated! Bring your towels and floaty to relax on. Register in advance at Member Services (non-members) or online! Children under 11yrs must have an adult in the water with them. 

“What’s That Waterfowl?” – Young Birders’ Walk

Join an exciting avian adventure with the Indiana Young Birders Network—an engaging and free community fostering a love for nature and birding. 

This educational excursion focuses on waterfowl during the peak of March migration. Don’t worry if you don’t have binoculars; they’ve got a limited supply for you to borrow. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable hiking boots. This event is free and open to all. Registration is required.

Check out these area festivals and events that are just a few of the great places in our area to watch the eclipse on April 8.
