Discover the fascinating world of birds of prey during Meet a Raptor at Eagle Creek Park’s Ornithology Center. Each Sunday afternoon, a park naturalist introduces visitors to one of the center’s Raptor Ambassadors and demonstrates how the birds are trained and cared for.
These programs often feature Freyja the Peregrine Falcon, offering a unique opportunity to see one of nature’s fastest predators up close while learning about raptor biology, conservation, and natural behaviors. Naturalists will share fun facts and answer questions while demonstrating how these incredible birds interact with their trainers.
Programs are typically held outdoors, weather permitting. If the program moves indoors due to weather, space will be limited to the first five participants, so arriving early is recommended. For the safety of both visitors and the birds, touching or handling the raptors is not allowed.
This short but engaging program is a great way to add wildlife education to a family outing at Eagle Creek Park. Large groups are encouraged to call ahead at 317-327-BIRD. Programs are not held on city holidays.
