Register today to reserve a memorable location to experience the once-in-a-lifetime celestial phenomenon of the total solar eclipse that will take place on Monday, April 8, 2024. This unique event will offer a viewing path that cuts through Hamilton County, Indiana, and over two of the county’s favorite parks. In conjunction with the eclipse and the unusual natural activities that will take place during the time of totality (approximately 3:06 p.m.), parks staff have planned eclipse-related activities that will be entertaining, educational and memory-making.

Mark this historic date on your calendar and make reservations now to join them for this out-of-this-world event!

*Each registered event attendee will receive a pair of approved eclipse-viewing safety glasses.

 

Park Side of the Moon at Cool Creek Park
Cool Creek Park will host an event around the viewing of the Total Solar Eclipse. Guests will park on-site and can tailgate around their vehicles and/or stroll the grounds of Cool Creek Park. Live entertainment will occur on the pavilion stage and include educational speakers throughout the program. Crafts and activities will be provided at their educational displays throughout the outdoor event space and inside the educational trailer and nature center to inform guests about this unique celestial event. Food will be available for purchase. Sponsors and vendors will be available to interact with guests, and a free kid zone activity area will be available. All registered attendees will receive approved eclipse-viewing safety glasses. The park will be closed to non-registered guests. Early registration for the event at this specific location is strongly encouraged, as attendance capacity has been set at 2,000.

Moon Market at Strawtown Koteewi Park
The Taylor Center of Natural History will host a Moon Market in celebration of the Total Solar Eclipse. Moon Market vendors will be selling a variety of a celestial themed wares for purchase. In addition to the small artisan market, the Taylor Center will provide eclipse themed crafts and a Total Solar Eclipse educational display. All registered attendees will receive approved eclipse-viewing safety glasses, a reserved spot in the mowed lawn to the east of the Taylor Center and will have the option to tailgate. The Moon Market and associated crafts will be held in and around the Taylor Center with optimal viewing on the “little sledding hill” to the west of the Taylor Farmhouse. Early registration for the event at this specific location is strongly encouraged, as attendance capacity has been set at 500.
