Sensory Sensitive Saturdays at Smiley Indoor Playground – A Calmer Play Experience
Smiley Indoor Playground in Indianapolis offers Sensory Sensitive Saturdays, a special playtime for children with sensory sensitivities, autism, or other special needs. Held on the first and third Saturday of each month from 9 AM to 11 AM, this event provides a quieter, more relaxed environment where children can explore and play comfortably.
This event is featured on Indy with Kids in partnership with Tendercare Home Health. For over 30 years, Tendercare has been helping medically complex children and their families thrive at home. Whether through paying family members to deliver care or connecting children with experienced pediatric nurses, Tendercare strives to enrich children’s lives at home in every way.
During Sensory Sensitive Saturdays, several adjustments are made to create a more soothing experience:
Reduced Sensory Stimuli – Music, certain lights, and air compressor guns will be disabled or set to minimal levels.
Play Areas Open – All play areas inside the facility will be available, except for the arcade.
Socks Required – SMILEY Socks are still required for entry into the play areas.
️ Flexible Admission Options – Guests can purchase admission for either one hour or two hours, depending on their preference.
This event allows children to enjoy active play in a stress-free setting while parents and caregivers relax knowing the environment is designed with their child’s needs in mind.
