Come listen to local music group Indy Raqs and learn about Middle Eastern music culture. Registration is required.

Join Carmel Clay Public Library for a unique cultural and educational experience with Indy Raqs. This Indianapolis-based, Middle Eastern-style fusion music group performs popular and classical music from Egypt, Turkey, Morocco, Armenia, Greece, Lebanon, Andalusia, Syria, and original music inspired by those cultures using traditional instruments. They’ll teach us about the instruments and music they play, the types of dance that accompany this style of music, and the history of the culture. The group includes Andy Smith on oud, Victor Santoro on qanun, Melinda Benzel on viola, Donna Carlton on oud, guitar, and dancer, and Adam Riviere on darbuka and riq. Registration is required.
