Let’s just start this article off by saying Fall is my favorite season of the year! There are so many reasons, the temperature finally goes down enough to wear cute sweaters and pants with boots not to mention the odd scarf here and there. People start getting excited for the holidays, decorating their houses for Fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving but what also steps up a gear is the attractions near Columbus, Indiana. The celebration of Columbus’ diversity takes place over two days and features over 35 countries, this year’s host nation is India. Visitors can immerse themselves in the Indian culture by taking part in a FREE children’s and adults kids yoga workshop, Bollywood dance workshop, a fashion show, food, market goods and music to name but a few things.
During these two days you’ll also be able to sample the foods of many different countries and learn about their cultures.

Fall and Halloween go neatly hand in hand, so we try to visit as many pumpkin patches as possible to enjoy the festivities.
Grab your picnic and head to Cornucopia Farm. General admission ($9 per person, 2 years and under and 65 and over are FREE, as are military with ID) also allows you to enjoy the corn and soybean mazes, a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch, putt around the pumpkin, music wall, tumbling tiles, animals, the straw house and so much more! 16th Annual Kiwanis Incredible Duck Splash
Mill Race Park

The 16th annual duck splash is where thousands of yellow rubber ducks are released from a helicopter into the lake right at the center of Mill Race Park! It’s a spectacular view that kids young and old enjoy seeing. Lucky adopted ducks are then selected with the use of remote-controlled boats, the Duckinators, to compete for more than $12.000 in cash and prizes. Ducks can be adopted for $5 each from any Kiwanis member, at Midwest Computer Solutions (3028 State St, Columbus) and from www.kducks.com.
There will also be other activities happening before, during and after the duck drop. There’ll be a bounce house, photo opportunities with Star Wars characters, remote controlled boats and a magic show at 1pm.

Come dressed in your best costume and head to the beautiful Brown County for some Halloween fun. Between 5-6pm there will be a kids trick or treat trail along the friends trail (next to the Park Office), and for those of you who want a good scaring, there will be a haunted trail from 8pm-10pm along the same trail.
Be sure to take part in the pumpkin carving contest too, just bring along your masterpiece by 5pm on October 19th to the Park Office to be entered. Call 812-988-5240 for more information.
2019 Halloween Town

Just 30 mins south of Indy is the quaint town of Franklin and they’ve got a whole day of Halloween fun!
They have so much fitted into one day. Make room for all that candy by taking part in the Halloween Hustle 5k walk/run and the 1 mile family fun walk, Howl-O-ween pet costume contest (see Facebook page for registration), kids activities, Pumpkin painting, Petting Zoo, Hay rides, Zombie face painting, Halloween carnival, Edward Scissorhands at the movies and much more.
Bloomington Pumpkin Launch

There are only so many pumpkins that can be carved so what we going to do with the leftovers? LAUNCH THEM!
Get a team together and build the ultimate launch platform to launch your pumpkins! There are two age categories-youth (elementary and middle school age) and student (high school or college age) with registration closing on October 18th.
If you’re not the building type there’s fun for you too. There will be live music, a children’s area set up by Wonderlab, food vendors and of course watching the competitors launch their pumpkins.
12th Annual Chocolate walk

Christmas is fantastic excuse to eat your weight in chocolate, right? And it’s the time of giving? Well, grab yourself and your friends a ticket to the chocolate walk and collect these sweet treats from 35 different shops and restaurants whilst also completing your Christmas shopping!
