Grab a snack for the kiddos and hit the road, because the Playzone in Anderson is officially open! This totally free indoor playground is just a quick 30-minute drive from the north side of Indianapolis. It is so much more than just a great place to get out the wiggles.
Playground for Kids, Coffee for Grown-ups
The Playzone is located at Anderson First Church of the Nazarene. When you arrive, you will immediately see The Luna Coffee Bar. Here, you can purchase great coffee, sandwiches, and treats to enjoy. Select your playtime provisions or simply head around the corner and downstairs to check in to the Playzone. The playground is totally free and is typically open from Tuesday-Saturday. The massive jungle gym is five stories tall and contains plenty of sliding, climbing, and more features. The play area is geared for preschool-aged children up to sixth graders. Your child can explore either with or without socks at the Playzone.
Three Areas to Explore
The Playzone is broken into three different sections. During your visit, you will find the Preschool Zone, the Rock-Climbing Zone, and the main Playzone. The Preschool Zone has smaller climbing structures and shorter slides for the little ones to utilize. This area is also connected with a suspended bridge that leads you into the main Playzone.
The Rock-Climbing Zone has a unique climbing wall that starts on the second story. There is a large bouldering area with crash pads for your kiddos to test their skills and get their energy out.
The main Playzone is massive! It boasts several stories for climbing and exploration, complete with two huge tunnel slides. Your kids can play for hours at the Playzone and caregivers can watch comfortably, since ample seating for adults is located throughout this indoor playground.
If that is not enough, there is a Sport Court Zone located immediately outside the indoor playground. This fully-enclosed basketball court is a great outlet for older kids. They even have a check-out area for sports equipment located on the lower level at the entrance to the Playzone.
Inclusive Space for Creativity
Right outside of The Playzone you will find family restrooms available for your convenience. You can also visit The Creative Space @AFC, which is a fully ADA-accessible arts and crafts area designed for adaptive seating needs. Wheelchairs can fit comfortably under each art desk station and the Lego building area. Their mission is to provide a welcoming space for all kids to play, and are committed to this goal with The Creative Space.
Make sure to bring your driver’s license inside for playtime. The facility has enhanced security measures, which include a quick scan of your license and a printed tag for adults to wear during their visit, in an effort to keep families and kiddos in a safe environment.

The Community Center @ AFC is an outreach ministry located directly outside of the Playzone. They provide helpful opportunities for the community at no charge. Those in need can make an appointment to shop their Clothes Closet and pick out multiple outfits, shoes, and coats at no charge. In addition, they offer a similar option for household essentials and cleaning supplies.
These programs are meant to be budget stretchers and present members of the community with a “hand up” by assisting with these essential items. Both opportunities are available by appointment only, so be sure to schedule ahead of time if you are in need of these services by reaching out to office@afc.email. If you would like to donate gently used clothing when you come to play, the church will gladly accept these items to continue serving those in need.
