We just spent the day at SKYLAKE Adventures in Sheridan, Indiana, for one of our big Indianapolis summer activities, and my four kids, ages 9 to 16, are already asking when we can go back.
That is usually the best review I can give you.
We were invited for a hosted sneak peek before SKYLAKE opens to the public on Thursday, June 4, 2026, and I went in with high hopes. I left sun-soaked, sandy, tired from all of the fun, and very excited for central Indiana families to experience this new lake adventure park, which is not your typical Indy waterpark.
The beach at SKYLAKE gives families room to relax, play in the sand, and watch the action on the lake.
SKYLAKE Adventures is located at 22105 Dunbar Road in Sheridan, just north of Grand Park in Hamilton County, making it one of the top things to do near Westfield. The first phase of the park is centered around a six-acre lake with white sand beaches, floating obstacle courses, slides, swimming areas, paddleboarding, kayaking, water volleyball, and places to relax between all the activity.
This is not a quick splash pad stop. This is a pack-your-towels, plan-your-day, let-the-kids-burn-every-ounce-of-energy kind of summer outing.
SKYLAKE Adventures Family Review: What My Kids Loved Most
My kids range in age from 9 to 16, which means finding one destination that works for everyone can be a little tricky. Someone is usually too old, too young, too bored, too hungry, too cool, or too unimpressed.
SKYLAKE worked really well for us because it gave everyone choices.
My adventure kids went straight for the big water attractions. They climbed, balanced, bounced, jumped, slid, swam, and laughed their way across the floating obstacle courses TOGETHER and then did it again at their own pace. It was a huge hit, and my nine-year-old spent almost all day there. They could race each other, try again when they fell, and keep going back for more.
The X Tower is getting tons of attention. When we entered the park, my kids said, “Whoa!”
This tower gives thrill seekers the chance to jump into the lake from 40 feet or take one of three types of slides into the lake. Some kids are going to march right up there like they were born for this moment. Others may need to watch for a while before deciding if they are ready. Either way, it is definitely one of the big “did you do it?” attractions.
We also loved that the day was not only about the biggest thrills. There was kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming, water volleyball, sandcastle building, and room to hang out near the lake. That matters when you are visiting with kids at different ages and comfort levels.
One thing people keep asking me, and that I think families will want to know, is that SKYLAKE is not a quarry, an old pond, or an existing lake that was turned into an attraction. This lake was built for this purpose. It was dug out, lined, and then finished with white sand to create the SKYLAKE experience.
That is part of what makes it feel so different from other lake days in Indiana. The water has this beautiful, bright color; the beach feels clean and intentional, and the whole thing has more of a destination feel than a “we found a random spot to swim” feel. It feels like it was designed from the beginning for families to spend the day swimming, sliding, paddling, relaxing, and playing in the sand.
Things to Do at SKYLAKE Adventures with Kids and Teens
If you are searching for things to do at SKYLAKE Adventures with kids, here is what families can expect during the opening season.
The water attractions are the main event. The Splash Challenge is the larger floating obstacle course with climbing, balancing, bouncing, and sliding features. This is ideal for kids, teens, and adults who are confident in the water and ready for an active experience.
Tidal Trek is designed for younger guests and gives smaller kids a scaled-down floating water course with climbing, balancing, and sliding. Guests must be at least 4 years old to use Tidal Trek, and additional safety or height rules may apply to certain attractions.
SKYSlides are side-by-side water slide lanes built into the terrain, and families can also enjoy designated swimming areas, kayaking, paddleboarding, water volleyball, and the beach.
The best part for me as a parent was that SKYLAKE did not feel like a place where every child had to be doing the exact same thing at the exact same time. One kid can be on the obstacle course, another can be building in the sand, another can be paddling, and someone else can be taking a break.
The Zoom Flume slide sends riders down a giant hill and straight into the lake.

SKYLAKE Adventures Hours and Location Near Grand Park
SKYLAKE Adventures is located at:
22105 Dunbar Road
Sheridan, IN 46069
The park is just north of Grand Park, making it an easy add-on for families already in the Westfield, Sheridan, Noblesville, and Hamilton County area.
SKYLAKE Adventures hours may vary and will be posted on social media, but they look like they’ll be about 10 am – 6 pm.
Because this is an outdoor lake-based destination, weather can impact operations. Activities may close during unsafe weather conditions, so check before you go if storms are in the forecast.
What to Bring to SKYLAKE Adventures
Bring your own towels. SKYLAKE does not provide towels, although branded towels will be available for purchase in the park.
I would also bring sunscreen, water-friendly shoes if your family prefers them, a beach blanket, a change of clothes, and anything your kids need to be comfortable for a full day outside.
Some beach chairs are provided, but availability may be limited. Beach chairs with an umbrella are available to rent. Otherwise, shade is limited, and guests are not permitted to bring their own chairs.
That is one of the biggest planning tips I would give families: treat this like a full outdoor beach and lake day. You will want sun protection, towels, and a plan for breaks.
Food, Drinks, Bathrooms, and Seating at SKYLAKE Adventures
Outside food and beverages are not permitted at SKYLAKE Adventures, but food trucks are on site with food and drink options available for purchase.
While permanent bathroom structures are being built, mobile trailer bathrooms are available for guests to use.
There are some complimentary beach chairs available, and families can rent umbrella and two-chair packages. AquaBanas are also available as private shaded cabana spaces for families who want a home base for the day. For larger groups, SKYLAKE will offer a Private Group AquaBanas Cove with five cabanas and an attendant.
For a full-day visit, I would absolutely think through where your family will land between activities. My kids were in and out of the water all day, and having a spot to regroup, reapply sunscreen, snack, and take a break makes a big difference.
Is SKYLAKE Adventures Safe for Kids?
SKYLAKE is an active lake adventure park, so families should understand the safety rules before they go.
Guests participating in activities must know how to swim and must wear a SKYLAKE-issued, U.S. Coast Guard-certified life jacket for the duration of the activity. Guests may not bring their own life jackets for use on the attractions.
Guests under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian. Lifeguards are on duty to monitor guest safety, but caregivers are still responsible for supervising their children.
As a parent, I appreciated the life jacket requirement and the clear focus on water safety. This is not a lazy river day. It is active, physical, lake-based play, and it is really fun, but it is still something parents should plan for thoughtfully.
Is SKYLAKE Adventures Good for Older Kids and Teens?
Yes. This is one of the reasons I think SKYLAKE is going to be such a big win for families.
My kids are 9 to 16, and there was plenty for all of them to do. That is not always the case at water destinations. Older kids and teens need more than a shallow splash area, and SKYLAKE gives them big attractions, physical challenges, and enough independence within the park experience to feel like they are having an adventure.
The floating obstacle course, X Tower, water slides, paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming areas all give older kids and teens something to get excited about.
For families with younger kids, there are still beaches, sand play, shallow areas, and Tidal Trek, but parents should pay close attention to age requirements, swim ability, height rules, and supervision needs.
Is SKYLAKE Adventures Worth It for Families?
For my family, yes.
SKYLAKE is not the cheapest summer outing, especially once you factor in admission, parking, food, and any rentals. For a bigger family, this may be a special day rather than an every-week activity.
But it also feels like a full-day experience, not a quick activity. We stayed for hours. My kids used their whole bodies. They tried new things. They challenged themselves. They laughed constantly. They came home tired and happy.
For families who love water parks, beaches, lake days, outdoor adventure, obstacle courses, and thrill attractions, SKYLAKE Adventures is going to be a memorable summer day.
If you are deciding whether to go once or buy a pass, think about your family’s personality. If your kids are the kind of kids who will ask to go back before you even leave the parking lot, the pass options may make sense.
Mine definitely did.
What Is Still Coming to SKYLAKE Adventures?
The lake, swimming areas, beach areas, and recreation attractions are ready for use during the opening phase, but SKYLAKE is still growing.
Future developments are being built beyond the lake right now. During our visit, we could see work happening on the sledding hill, which is expected to open in the late fall. A three-story high ropes course and additional buildings are also part of the planned development.
An all-season tubing hill is anticipated around Thanksgiving, and future phases are expected to continue expanding the property into a year-round outdoor destination.
SKYLAKE Adventures is being developed in phases on a 126-acre site, with plans extending through 2031. So when you visit this summer, know that you are seeing the beginning of something much larger.
Final Parent Report on SKYLAKE Adventures
Here is my report back after taking four kids, ages 9 to 16, to SKYLAKE Adventures for the day: we had the best time.
It was active. It was sandy. It was sunny. It was full of climbing, sliding, swimming, paddling, jumping, laughing, and the kind of summer chaos that makes everyone sleep well later.
The lake looked beautiful, the white sand made it feel like a getaway, and the attractions gave my kids the kind of adventure they are always asking for.
There are still future phases coming, and families should know that parts of the larger property are under development. But the lake and water attractions are ready for summer fun, and we had a full, wonderful day with what is already open.
SKYLAKE Adventures opens to the public Thursday, June 4, 2026, in Sheridan, Indiana.
Add it to your summer list, reserve your tickets, bring your towels, and get ready for a big Indiana summer adventure day.
