May the 4th Be With You | Stellar Star Wars Themed Events

It’s a big day! Star Wars May 4th, or May the 4th. It’s kind of a big deal. We’re lining up all the events submitted to our calendar of things to do in Indianapolis.

Fans of the classic space franchise know the perfect time to celebrate your love of all things Star Wars is the 4th day of May, when you can earnestly exhort all around you with a friendly “May the 4th be with you!” While some choose to observe the day by settling in with a marathon of intergalactic films, venues around Indianapolis offer opportunities to share the fun with other Star Wars fans.

If you haven’t already, this could be a great time to introduce the kids in your life to this beloved movie series and Star Wars May 4th traditions. There’s just something unifying about Star Wars. Adored by kids and adults alike, the space saga is awesome to bond over as a family. Star Wars: The Force Awakens in Concert

Hilbert Circle Theater
April 19-20, 8 pm each night

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Film Series features this musical celebration of our favorite intergalactic epics, just in time for Star Wars May 4th. Trivia Tuesdays: Star Wars Edition

Dave and Buster’s – Indianapolis
April 30, 7:30 pm

How well do you know the Star Wars universe? Put your knowledge to the test against other fans at Dave and Busters in this all-ages competition. Come early or stay late for all the games and fun at the arcade.

Jedi Trials

Hamilton East Public Library – Noblesville
May 3, 3 pm

Younglings ages 6-11 can begin their Padawan training at Jedi Trials. Registration for this exciting event opens on Friday, April 19 at 9 am.

Star Wars Night

Victory Field
May 4, 6:35 pm

Victory Field transforms into a galaxy far, far away on Star Wars Night. Dress up as your favorite Star Wars characters and meet many of them in person as they roam the concourse. Characters will be available until the end of the fifth inning. Enjoy Star Wars-themed graphics and music in-park throughout the game.

Star Wars May 4th Trivia

Books and Brews Indianapolis
May 4, 7 pm

We love Books and Brews any day of the week, but special events like trivia nights and karaoke just make this venue even better! Join the Indiana Star Wars Collecting Community (ISCOMM) for Star Wars trivia on May the Fourth.

Star Wars Day Chess Tournament

St. Paul Episcopal Church
May 4, 9 am-8 pm

Indy Chess is hosting this special, themed chess tournament, but any fan of chess and Star Wars is invited to register! Membership is not required. All ages and skill levels can join the one-day, rated chess tournament with four sections. Join Team Jedi, Sith, or Mandalorian then compete to decide the future of the Galactic Republic. Win themed trophies and compete in the Star Wars costume contest. Entry for Indy Chess members is $40 and non-members are $45.

Star Wars Night

Michael A. Carroll Stadium
April 13, 7 pm

Celebrate Star Wars a few weeks early with the Indy Eleven. Word has it that your favorite Star Wars characters will be at the soccer match on April 13. Want to put your film knowledge to the test? Adults can purchase a ticket package to the Beer Garden that includes a round of Star Wars and Indy Eleven trivia starting at 5 pm, Beer Garden entry, and a complimentary drink and popcorn.

Star Wars Movie Marathon and Costume Contest

Indianapolis Public Libary – Central Library

This event at the Central Library is for all ages! Come dressed as your favorite character for the costume contest scheduled for 12:30 pm. The movie marathon includes screenings of Episodes IV, V, and VI.

Bird Fest Star Wars May 4th Events

Eagle Creek Ornithology Center

Bird Fest takes over Eagle Creek Park for a long weekend beginning on May the 4th. The park has taken care to include some special Star Wars festivities in its bird-centric event. Arrive at the Ornithology Center promptly at 12 pm to meet Obi the Owl and stick around for a themed craft and story time from 12:30-2 pm. Please note that a small gate fee of $5-6 per car will be collected at the park entrance.

May the Forest Be With You

Ellenberger Park

Join Keep Indianapolis Beautiful in planting trees around Ellenberger Park and the forest will be with you. The Community Forestry team will lead participants in planting over 100 native trees. Register online, plan to wear closed-toe shoes, and bring a reusable water bottle. Work gloves will be provided and food will be delivered after the event as a thank-you to all volunteers.

A New Hope Free Outdoor Movie

Scamahorn Park, Pittsboro

The Pittsboro Parks Department summer film series kicks off with a slightly-belated May 4th Star Wars film. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and spend an evening under the stars watching the movie that started it all. Free popcorn will be provided, courtesy of the Parks Department!

Tinker Time: Star Wars!

Hamilton East Public Library – Fishers

Join this monthly program at the Fisher’s branch for kids in grades 1-5 for a special Star Wars-themed event! Participants will use perler beads to create favorite characters from the movies. Registration is required.
